2.1.5 Describe people and objects using suitable words and
Pupils’ book page 5
phrases

Objective:
GUESS WHO?
To describe people's physical appearance using suitable words and phrases.
Materials Needed:
Pictures (given in the next page)
Whiteboard
Markers
Timer (optional)
Preparation:
Teacher elicits the focus language. (brown hair, long straight hair, brown
eyes, etc)
Teacher pre-teaches the structure for the game. He/She has got
_______(colour) eyes. Her hair is _______, (short/length) _________,
(colour) and __________ (curly/straight).
Print and cut the pictures given. (preferably thick papers, if not A4 papers
will do. The pictures can be pasted on manila cards /laminates as well)
Arrange the pictures in a stack or lay them out on a table.
Give each team a pupils’ copy for their reference.
Divide the pupils into groups. (Team A and B)
Gameplay:
One pupil (Team A) chooses a picture from the stack of pictures
without showing it to Team B.
Then he/she describes the selected person's physical appearance to
Team B using the structure practiced before.
Team B listens carefully to the description and tries to guess which
person is being described.
Team B can ask clarifying questions to narrow down their guesses. For
example: "Is the person wearing a white T-shirt?" (Teachers can limit
the number of questions)
Team B makes their guess. If they guess correctly, they earn a point. If
not, Team A reveals the picture, and no points are awarded.
Rotate turns, allowing Team B to select a picture and describe it to
Team A for guessing.
Scoring:
Keep track of each team's points on the whiteboard or paper.
Cards (to print and cut)
