Scotties prepare for divisional

It all comes down to this weekend as the Glasgow
Scotties host the Eastern B/C Divisional Softball Tournament
at Sullivan Park. Play starts on Thursday at 3 p.m. with #4
Conrad/Choteau playing #5 Cut Bank. The Scotties play on
Field 2 at 5 against third-seeded Stillwater, while on Field 1 at
the same time is #2 Huntley Project vs. #7 Shelby. Conference
champs Shepherd gets a bye.
A Glasgow win would move the Scotties to a Friday
quarterfinal game at 10 a.m. A loss would put them in a
12 noon game. Glasgow coach Robert Martin said that the
Scotties will take one game at a time.
“We lost to Stillwater earlier in the season. But that was
such a long time ago,” said Martin. “We had lots of errors in
that game.”
The Scotties have improved since that game and have
gotten to practice outside since then. Martin said that he
wants his team to play fearlessly and take one game at a time.
He said that they won’t look at the scoreboard until after the
game.
The Scotties (10-11-2, 2-8) tuned up for this weekend
with four games at the Class B/C Challenge in Cut Bank.
Glasgow won a pair of games, lost one and tied one due to
a time limit. The Scotties were without senior starter Tatum
Nyquist. Glasgow started the weekend against conference foe
Conrad/Choteau, losing 15-2. In the circle was eighth-grader
Kelbi Wersal, who pitched a good game for the Scotties.
“Kelbi hasn’t pitched in a big game like this,” said
Martin. “We didn’t want to show Conrad any of our pitchers
