Capstone Project Proposal

Name: Dyllan

Teacher: Mr. Green

The capstone focus I have chosen is: Entrepreneurship

Proposed title for my Project Proposal: Dyllans Dog Walking Service

My inquiry question is: What are some simple yet powerful marketing techniques to
attract new customers to a business?

Rationale/context: I am choosing this question because I genuinely care about the

dogs that I will walk, and I want to grow my small business in the best way possible. I
want to know the specific elements it takes to grow a small business to make it succeed
in a short amount of time. Since I am going into social work, it is a change of pace with
seeing animals every day than working with more saddening things. I really wanted to
take my love for animals and incorporate it into something school related. It has been
super fun working with diverse dog personalities. I have lost my opportunity to see dogs
more now that I live in a basement suite, and it saddens me.

Background: In my past 17 years of living, dogs have been my all-time favorite animal. I
would go up to random people and ask them what their favorite dog breed is, if they had
one and if they wanted one. I had many books on dog breeds, dog health and dogs in
general. A dream of mine since I was a kid was for me to own a dog, but I cannot do that
right now, so I decided to walk dogs. Whenever I went to my grandma's or grandpa's house,
I would walk their dogs whenever I got the chance.

Career connections: My intended career path is human services/social work. I always

loved working with lively creatures and humans and dogs fit into that category. My capstone
does not relate to my career path necessarily, but it was extremely important for me to do
this.
Interdisciplinary and core competencies connections: Understanding what is important to
you, especially the trust and loyalty of others, is a core strength. The dedication to caring for
their pets entrusted to me highlights my integrity and compassion, using meaningful connections
built on honesty and reliability. This commitment not only reflects my values but also earns the
respect and trust of those around me, strengthening my relationships both personally and
professionally

Capstone Presentation medium: My capstone is going to be presented on a PowerPoint slide.

I am doing a PowerPoint presentation instead of a YouTube presentation because I believe that
it will show a better representation of my project.

Description of my Capstone project: My capstone will be a dog walking service for friends,
family, and members of the city. I want to enhance a community that allows teenagers (such as
myself) to walk and cherish their dogs as much as they do. It will help build trust, teamwork, and
unity within my city. Every week, I want at least 1-3 days set on this service so I can build my
knowledge on it. I have researched how to promote my service in a healthy and ethical way so
that I can succeed without needing any assistance. My service will include dog walking, and if
needed I will provide other pet services such as pet sitting and bringing my own supplies to
enrich my confidence and experience. My service will reach out to other animals. When it
comes to promoting, I will create a modernized and alluring TikTok page that will create a space
where I show my skills and capacities for more people to use my service. I will also be creating
a website that will be a safe place to show my progress and growth within my community. One
of my skills to succeed in this service will be my speech, my well-expressive tone, and my
usage of persuasion. One of my struggles when it comes to my topic of the capstone will be my
time-management. I am afraid that I will not be able to walk as many dogs because I also work
around 2-3 times a week, and must keep up with other classes, friends, and family.

Resources/ Technology/Skills: I will need to use my laptop, Canva, paper, any sort of
color's, tape, approvement from my grandma's apartment building, references, reviews, and a
clear head. I will need to make posters for advertisements and an Instagram page. I will need
more knowledge on the subject and what to bring to each appointment. I have booked 2 days
from work to fully put my focus on my capstone.

Mentors/Community Connections: My main mentor that will help me through my

Capstone is my grandmother. She is incredibly wise and academically smart; she has
helped me throughout my whole life with school. She will help me by giving me advice on
what I should do next and help me put flyers around the city and her building. Around her
building, there are a lot of people that are willing to help me and walk their dogs.
Project Limitations: For my limitations, one worry that I do have is that some people may
think that I do not have enough experience or knowledge. Since growing up I never had a
dog I did not walk as many dogs as I wanted to, but I still did a decent amount. I do not have
much involvement in the dog community as many people would like me to walk their dogs.
Another limitation might have been that I have so many outsides of school activities that
might merge with my capstone.

Other considerations: Some other considerations will be the prices I will need to research on.
What I am thinking is that I will pay 10$ for 30 minutes and 15$ for an hour. For weekly (2 days
and 2 hours) it will be 28$. I added that it will be cheaper for weekly to make more deals,
money, and customers.
