In 1973, Motorola engineer Martin Cooper invented the first mobile phone the
DynaTAC 8000X. Starting with Nokia 1011in 1992, cell phones continued innovating off
1990s technologies paving the way for smartphones. BlackBerry ,which was released in
2002, is considered the first smartphone. Since 2010 smartphones become popular.
The main benefit of using mobile phones is making the mode of communication easier
and cheap. They can be used to acquire knowledge or information on various topics. In the
corona pandemic smartphones gave students access to online classes via zoom. Besides
calling purposes, smartphones are a gift for social media lovers to use Twitter, Instagram,
Facebook, etc.
On the other hand, mobile phones have various disadvantages. Sometimes mobile is a
disturbing device that creates a distraction. For example, students are easily distracted from
their studies because of mobiles. It is also seen a wastage of time leading to "Nomophobia"
a term for mobile phones' addiction.
