Camera Work

Learning Objectives:
• To develop the understanding of camera shots

A camera shot is how much space the audience sees in a particular frame. Cinematographers
choose specific camera shots to portray things about a character, setting, or theme to the
audience. Similarly, camera angles are different ways to position a camera to further emphasize
emotions and relationships.

Task: Your task is to capture photographs of the following camera shots and provide a concise
description for each shot.

• Medium close up/Bust shot (MCU)


• Long shot
• Low angle shot
• High angle shot
• Over the shoulder shot (OTS)
Marks: 3 x 5=15

Important Instructions:

• Capture two different photographs for each shot and use different objects for each
photograph.
• You can capture photographs of any object; however, images obtained from the internet
will receive zero marks.
• Ensure that your photograph reflects a balance between the camera shot and the
lighting, creating a visually compelling and well-composed image.
• You may use any camera equipment, such as a DSLR or smartphone.

Note: Copied material will be graded “Zero”.
