SAFETY OPERATING PROCEDURE

ROLL FORM MACHINE


DO NOT use this machine unless a Supervisor/Manager has instructed
you in its safe use and operation and has given permission.

Decoiler
Basic Decoiler Set-up

Adjust the feed roller pressure to be only enough to feed the coil on demand by the
micro-switch.

Take care not to have fingers close to feed rollers

Excessive pressure can result in motor overload and cut-


out activation. The micro-switch position should be
adjusted to provide feed once the coil approaches the
horizontal, but not so close that it comes tight during the
feed process.

1. Each roll former has a team made up of a roll form
operator and two or three riveters.

2. The roll form operator sets up the roll former control


system, which produces each piece of the frame in a
predetermined order via a programme delivered by USB or
sent via the internal network.

3. Each piece is then taken from the roll former and the
longer pieces placed on stands. Each shorter intermediate
piece being riveted to the longer pieces until the frame is
complete.

4. Frequent quality checks made on the profile and other


dimensions of the frame.

When completed frames are required to be carried manually between areas make
sure there is a suitable number of people to carry the frame.

See manual handling document.

At the end of the each shift, Clean surrounding area – complete housekeeping.

Rivet stems on the floor can become a slip hazard.
