Reinforcement Worksheet

Topic: Programming Robots and Single Board Computers

Q1. What is a Single Board Computer (SBC)? Why it is different from desktop computer?

A Single Board Computer (SBC) is a complete computer built on a single circuit board. It typically
includes a microprocessor, memory, input/output (I/O) interfaces, and other necessary
components for basic computing tasks.

We can connect different devices with GPIO pins like Sonar sensor, DC Motors etc

Q2. Give at least 3 real life examples of using Single board computer (Raspberry pi)

We can SBC on building Traffic signals, Automatic Doors, Fire alarm

Q3. What is the purpose of GPIO pins in Raspberry pi?

The purpose of GPIO pins can vary widely depending on the specific application, but here are
some common uses:

Prototyping and DIY Projects

Expansion and Customization

Digital Communication

Q4. Imagine you're designing an autonomous underwater robot tasked with navigating through a
submerged cave system. How would you utilize a sonar sensor in this scenario to help the robot navigate
safely through the cave's tight passages and avoid collisions with walls or obstacles?

Sonar Sensor (Ultra Sonic ) can be used in this project. The function of sensor is to avoid obstacles.

When transmitter transmit the signals , these signals hit on the object and bounce back and receiver receive
the signals . After that SBC take decision for changing the direction.

Q5. Provide an example of how IoT (Internet of Things) is integrated into daily life. Explain the scenario and
discuss the role of IoT devices.

Connection between two devices with the help of Internet is called an IoT.

Eg

CCTV Camera and mobile can be connected with the help of internet.
Q6. Match the component with its correct description and note answer in the third column

Component Description Answer

1. GPIO a. To connect display with serial 1- C
interface compatible display.
2. Power Adaptor b. Connect a camera with a camera 2- d
Serial Interface ribbon
3. CSI Connector c. Connect devices to the real world 3–b

4. Ethernet Port d. 2.5 Amperes and 5 volts 4– e

5. DSI Connector e. To connect to the internet 5– a

Q7. Identify and label the following components

Book page number 102

Q8. Explain in a graphical way that how does the SONAR sensor work?

Transmitter is transmitting the

signals. As these are hitting on
the mountain it bounce back
and receiver receiving the
signals.
