Profile
I am a punctual, diligent, and passionate teacher. I am a fluent Irish speaker with a love for Irish History, Culture and Sport. I have competed at
both club and county level in hurling and football, and I believe that sports have played a huge part in the development of my character. In 2022 I
graduated from the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Education (Design Graphics and Construction) course at Atlantic Technological University
Connemara (GMIT Letterfrack) with first class honours. I am immersed in my subject areas and eager to teach what I have learned. I am
highly self-motivated when working independently and I also co-operate well as part of a team. As well as my own continuous
professional development, I take great satisfaction in seeing other people's holistic improvement and growth as result of my teaching or
assistance. As a practicing Catholic, I am a strong believer that every person is made in the image and likeness of God. This is the lens through which I
view my students, focusing on them as individuals and always trying to cater for and incorporate the student’s own interests, hobbies and needs into
my lessons.

Dissertation
A Critical Analysis of Irish Educational History During the Period Called the ‘Penal Times,’ Beginning with The Education Act in 1695
Until Catholic Emancipation in 1829, With a Particular Emphasis on The Hedge School System.
As part of my final year dissertation, I examined the Hedge School System which emerged in Ireland during the Penal Times. This involved
researching the history of teaching and learning in Ireland from before the introduction of Christianity. A fascinating overview of the Bardic
and Monastic School system sets the scene for the discussion on the Hedge School system in which I am extremely interested, and which
inspires me. My dissertation and the accompanying poster was selected in the top three in my year and was presented at the Letterfrack Summer
Exhibition.
