Q. What is Artificial Intelligence?

It is the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like humans
and mimic their actions.
Q. What is data science? Give examples.
Domain of AI may deal with data(structured and unstructured data). Data science is the field of
applying advanced analytics techniques and scientific principles to extract valuable information
from data for business decision-making, strategic planning and other uses.
Examples-

Google Analytics
Customer analytics in the retail industry
Demand prediction for the manufacturing industry
Recommendation systems in marketing & advertising
Credit scoring for financial institutions
Q. What is computer vision? Give examples.
Computer vision is a field of artificial intelligence that trains computers to interpret and
understand the visual world. Using digital images from cameras and videos and deep learning
models, machines can accurately identify and classify objects — and then react to what they
“see.”
Eg: Face recognition, content based image retrieval, smart interactions, environment perceptions

Q. What is NLP? Give examples.

Natural Language Processing

These systems are capable of communicating with human beings using natural language rather
than using syntax or by keywords
Eg. Chatbots and Virtual assistants, Sentiment Analysis

Q. What are the some of the advantages and disadvantages of AI?

Ans. Advantages

1) Reduction in Human Error: With Artificial intelligence errors are reduced and the chance of reaching
accuracy with a greater degree of precision is a possibility.
Example: In Weather Forecasting using AI they have reduced the majority of human error.
2) Takes risks instead of Humans: We can overcome many risky limitations of humans by developing
an AI Robot which in turn can do the risky things for us.
3) Available 24x7:
An Average human will work for 4–6 hours a day excluding the breaks. But using AI we can make
machines work 24x7 without any breaks and they don’t even get bored, unlike humans.
Example: Educational Institutes and Helpline centers are getting many queries and issues which can be
handled effectively using AI.
4) Helping in Repetitive Jobs: In our day-to-day work, we will be performing many repetitive works like
sending a thanking mail, verifying certain documents for errors and many more things. Using artificial
intelligence we can productively automate these mundane tasks and can even remove “boring” tasks for
humans and free them up to be increasingly creative.
5) Digital Assistance:
6) Daily Applications:
Daily applications such as Apple’s Siri, Window’s Cortana, Google’s OK Google are frequently used in our
daily routine whether it is for searching a location, taking a selfie, making a phone call, replying to a mail
and many more.
Disadvantages
1) High Costs of Creation
2) Making Humans Lazy
3) Unemployment
4) No Emotions
5) Lacking Out of Box Thinking
Q. Explain the terms-

Smart Home- A smart home is a home setup where internet-enabled appliances and devices can be
automatically controlled remotely using a networked device.
Smart buildings -include private homes, offices and commercial buildings, workplaces, and factories and
warehouses.
Smart buildings- use Internet of Things (IoT) devices—sensors, software, online connectivity—to
monitor various building characteristics, analyze the data, and generate insights around usage patterns
and trends that can be used to optimize the building’s environment and operations.

Smart City-A smart city is a municipality that uses information and communication technologies (ICT) to
increase operational efficiency, share information with the public and improve both the quality of
government services and citizen welfare.

Q. Why AI is gaining relevance?

Ans.
1. Increased and more powerful computational resources .
2. Internet and data plans have become cheaper, thus making more and more people and devices
get connected.
3. AI and machine learning needs training data to be able to get better with time.
4. We now have access to apps such as Siri, Alexa and Google assistant that know our preferences,
location , profile etc.
