DECLARATION
I, hereby declare that this project is being submitted in
fulfilment of the “Micro project on Ultrasonic distance
measuring sensor” and is result of self done work
carried out by me under the various guidance of our
mentors “Prof. Dipak kumar”.

I further declare that to my knowledge, the structure

and content of this projected are original and have not
been submitted before any purpose.
INTRODUCTION:
 It is designed to measure the distance of any object by
usingan ultrasonic transducer. Ultrasonic means of
distance measurement is a convenient method
compared to traditional one using measurement scales.
This kind of measurement is particularly applicable to
inaccessible areaswhere traditional means cannot be
implemented such as high temperature, pressure zones
etc.
 It is design to measure the distance of any object nby
usingan Ultrasonic transducer.
 Ultrasonic means of distance measurement is a
convenientmethod compare to traditional one using
measurement scale.

DISCRIPTION
 Ultrasonic transducer comprising of transmitter
andreceiver are used.
 The transmitted waves are reflected back from the
objectand received by the transducer again.
 The total time taken from sending the waves to
receiving itis calculated by taking into consideration the
 velocity of sound.
 Then the distance is calculated by a program running on
themicrocontroller and display on an LCD screen
interface to the microcontroller.
 The ultrasonic sensor produced 40KHz sound waves.
Hardware requirements
1. Arduino UNO

2. LCD (16*2)
3. Jumper wire (mail to male or female to
male)
4. Bread board
5. Ultrasonic sensor

ARDUINO UNO
 The Arduino UNO is an open source microcontroller
boardbased on easy to use hardware and software.
 Arduino boards are able to read inputs.
 Arduino is a development board in which we will upload the
program and give a desired output.
LCD

 LCD is a hardware device which is display the output.

JUMPER WIRE
 Jumper wires are simply wires that have connector
pins at each end, allowing them to be used to connect
two points to each other without soldering.

BREAD BOARD
 A breadboard is a temporary test platform used to
prototype and test electronic circuits, while a PCB is
a permanent board made of a conducting material
used toconnect electronic components.

ULTRASONIC SENSOR
 An ultrasonic sensor is an electronic device that
measures the distance to an object by emitting
ultrasonic waves and converting the reflected sound
into electrical signals.
 Ultrasound travels faster than audible sound (that is,
sound that humans can hear).

WORKING OF PROJECT
 The project uses appear of ultrasonic
transducerscomprising of one transmitter
and one receiver.
 The transducer can deliver 40KHz ultrasonic sound while
themaximum receiver is design to accept only 40KHz
 sound wave.
 Whenever an obstacle obstructs the ceiling of
ultrasonictransmitter it reflects the signal towards
the ultrasonic receiver.
 The program is so written in mc to calculate the
distancegetting from ultrasonic module.
 The distance measurement which is seen on lcd displays the
distance in cms.
How to operate this ultrasonic distance
measurement by circuit?
 Why don’t you initially burn the program to the
microcontroller.
 Now give the connection as per the circuit diagram.
 While giving the connection makes your dad
VCC ofultrasonic module is connected to five
Volt DC.
 Switch on the board supply.
 Place the obstacle in front the ultrasonic module,
now youcan observe the distance on LCD.
 Switch off the boat supply.

Ultrasonic distance Measurement

applications:
 Used to measure the obstacle distance.
 This system used in automatic parking sensor and
obstaclewarning system.
 Used in terrain monitoring robots.
