GEMS World Academy-Dubai Grade 11 May Mock Exams

General Information:
● Exams will start on Monday 20 May 2024 through to Friday 31 May 2024
● Arrive on campus no later than 7:40am
● Students need to sign in and out of reception when they arrive and exit campus
● Exams will take place in the Exam Hall
● Students can be on campus when they do not have exams in the DP lounge
● Students do not need to be in school when they do not have an exam
● If students have an exam in the morning and the afternoon, they must remain on site between
exams
● Morning exams (AM) will start promptly at 8:15 (Unless otherwise stated)
● Afternoon exams (PM) will start promptly at 12:00 (Unless stated otherwise)
● Your mock exam grade will be your reported grade in your Term 3 report
● All GWA final exams will be considered by teachers when arriving at a student’s best-fit grade
when deciding on a predicted grade. While the process is a mock of the World Exams, the exams
themselves will play an important role in each student’s predicted grade.
● There will be days that involve a lot of exam writing and other days that are relatively light. This
is reflective of the World Exams and experiencing this degree of rigor prior to May is an
important part of the preparation process.
● All of the World Exam rules and regulations will be reviewed with students prior to exams and
will apply, as much as is applicable, to the GWA Grade 12 Final Exams.
● As per our assessment policy, any absenteeism for illness will require a doctor’s note.
● Any students who miss an exam without a doctor’s note will be awarded a ‘zero’ mark. There will
be no opportunities to resit the exam, or take another paper at a later date.
● Students who miss an exam due to a medical reason may be asked to sit a mock exam paper at
another date. This paper will be different to that sat by other students in the original exam
session.
● Students arriving late will only be permitted to quietly enter the exam room after all
administrative tasks have been completed and instructions for the exam have been reviewed
with the late student. No additional time will be given to students arriving late.
● With the exception of multiple choice exams, all Papers (including those written in-class) will
have the usual 5 minutes of reading time prior to the start of the exam (8:15 AM).
● Papers not listed below will take place in-class at an alternative time arranged by the classroom
teacher.
● No student will be allowed to leave the examination room early as per new IB regulations
● Access arrangements will be communicated with students individually who require additional
circumstances
