My Report-Phase1

The document discusses the environmental implications of electronic waste (e-waste) accumulation and improper disposal. It provides context on the current situation of e-waste posing risks and not breaking down easily. The investigation aims to create a more sustainable approach to electronic production and disposal to minimize negative impacts on ecosystems, human health, and natural resources. The information is intended for all people.

Focus Question
What are the profound environmental consequences of accumulating and improperly disposing of
electronic waste (e-waste)?

2|Page
Task Definition
What is the current situation?
E-waste can be risky, doesn't break down, and builds up in the soil, water, air, and living things.
Toxic materials leak into the environment, for instance, when open-air burning and acid baths are
used to recover valuable materials from electronic components.
What will the focus and the purpose (desired outcome) of my
investigation be?
The desired outcome of addressing the environmental implications of e-waste is to create a more
sustainable and environmentally responsible approach to the production, use, and disposal of
electronic devices, ultimately minimizing negative impacts on ecosystems, human health, and
natural resources.
How will I go about conducting the investigation, considering the PAT
requirements?
Understand the Task: Read the instructions carefully to know what you need to focus on, like
pollution or resource conservation.
Find Information: Look for easy-to-understand sources like websites, articles, or reports to learn
about e-waste and its effects on the environment.
Look at the Numbers: Find out how much e-waste is produced and what harm it does to nature,
like polluting water or using lots of energy.
Think About Solutions: Consider ways to fix the problems, like recycling e-waste or using less
harmful materials in electronics.
Share What You Learn: Tell others what you found out, maybe through a simple report or a
presentation with pictures.
Who is the information for (target audience)?
All human beings who walk on plant Earth.

Questions
Identify categories related to the investigation (at least THREE) which you can use to organise your questions and information. These categories
will be used in Phase 2 and Phase 3.
Complete your list of research/investigative questions (at least TEN).
Evaluate the quality of the research/investigative questions. You need a variety of question types that show different levels of thinking, e.g.
questions that will
1. provide facts (who, when, where, what, how many, etc.) (level 1 questions)
2. give direction to the investigation (why, how, etc.) (level 2 questions)
3. support predictions or help with adjustments (what if, if, etc.) (level 3 questions)
4. support judgement or help to evaluate, critique, review or find meaning (would it be better if, what recommendation(s), what would be best,
etc.) (level 4 questions)
Note: Collectively, your (minimum of) TEN questions should represent at least THREE of the above-mentioned types/levels of questions
for your investigation/research.
