RIZAL-Module 6 (Lesson 1)
RIZAL-Module 6 (Lesson 1)
INTRODUCTION
For Dr. José Rizal, the well-respected national hero of the Philippines, “the pen is mightier than the
sword.” Through his literary masterpieces, he voiced strong opposition to the abuse of Spaniards and
conveyed messages that he hoped would inspire his fellow countrymen. We round up his best works and
uncover the underlying meaning behind them.
Rizal wrote mostly in Spanish, the then lingua franca of scholars, though some of his letters (for
example Sa Mga Kababaihang Taga Malolos) were written in Tagalog. His works have since been
translated into a number of languages including Tagalog and English.
OBJECTIVES:
This module provides a thorough discussion about Dr. Jose Rizal’s popular works and writings,
emphasizing his two remarkable and controversial novels: “Noli Me Tanegere” and “El Filibusterismo.”
This unit also discusses “Rizal’s Moral Legacies in our Daily Life.”
