TRAIT MODEL OF EMOTIONAl
INTELLIGENCE.
 TRAIT MODEL IS THE MOST RECENT MODEL OF EMOTIONAL
INTELLIGENCE GIVEN BY PETRIDES. THIS MODEL MARKS A BREAK FROM
THE IDEA THAT EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE IS ABILITY BASED AND
PROCESS THAT PEOPLE HAVE AS PART OF THEIR PERSONALITIES A
NUMBER OF EMOTIONAL SELF PERCEPTION AND EMOTIONAL TRAITS.
 TRAIT EI CONERNS PEAPLE PERCEPTION OF THEIR OWN EMOTIONAL
ABILITIES.
 TRAIT EI IS DEFINED AS “A CONSTELLATION OF EMOTIONAL SELF
PERCEPTION LOCATED AT LOWER LEVEL OF PERSONALITY HIERARCHIES.
 PETRIDES TERM THIS AS TRAIT EMOTIONAL EFFICENCY. THIS MEANS
THAT EMOTIONS ARE SUBJECTIVE AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE IS
QUITE SIMPLY AN INDIVIDUALS OWN PERCEPTION OF HIS OWN ABILITY TO
WORK WITH EMOTIONS.
PETRIDES ASSERT THAT THERE IS NO STANDARD PROFILE OF AN
EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT PERSON BECOUSE Ceratin TRAITS ARE
ADAPTIVE FUNCTIONAL AND USEFUL IN SOME SITUATION HILE THE
SOME TRAITS MAY HAMPER INDIVIDUALS IN OTHER CONTEXTS. (FOR
EXAMPLE ) BIENG RESERVED WOULD BE USEFUL IN A JOB ROLE THAT
DEMANDS RESEARCH IN ISOLATION BUT MAY NOT BE SUITED TO
AJOB ROLE THAT EXPECTS SOCIAL INTERACTION AND AGREEBLENESS

THUS THE TRAIT MODEL OF EI FOCUSES ON PARTICULAR

PERSONALITY TRAITS HELPFUL IN PERCIEVING AND REGULATING
EMOTIONS. IT EMPHASIZES THE EMOTIONAL SELF PERCEPTION AND
EMOTIONAL TRAITS IN ONES PERSONALITY PLAYS A SIGNIFICANT
ROLE IN ONES EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE.
