1. What is qualifications? (5 pts)


Qualifications are the requirements a candidate needs to qualify and be successful in a specific role. You
typically earn qualifications through experience, education and training in your industry or role.

2. What are the different examples of qualifications in education? Support your


answer. (10 pts)

1. High School Diploma: A high school diploma is a diploma awarded upon graduation of high school.
2. Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree is an undergraduate degree in which you study a subject of your
choice at an academic institution, and is commonly known as a college degree. Getting a bachelor's degree can
enhance your access to job opportunities, expose you to new ideas, and boost your earning potential.
3. Master's Degree: A master's degree is a graduate degree that allows students to build advanced knowledge
of a specialized body of theoretical and applied knowledge, forge a deeper understanding of their area of
study, and develop a range of skills applicable to their trade.
4. Doctorate : The highest academic degree, A doctorate degree typically takes four to six years to complete—
however, this timing depends on the program design, the subject area you're studying, and the institution
offering the program.
5. Professional Certifications: A professional degree is an advanced education designed to prepare you to
work in a specific field, such as medicine or law. Similar to advanced academic degrees, like doctorates and
certain master's, professional degrees are considered terminal degrees—or the highest degree you can
achieve in an area. Specific qualifications in a particular field, such as teaching, nursing, or IT.

3. What is Philippine Qualification Framework or PQF? (10 pts)


The PQF has eight (8) Levels of qualifications differentiated by descriptors of expected learning outcomes
along three domains: knowledge, skills and values; application; and degree of independence. It has sub-
frameworks corresponding to the subsystems of the education and training system. For example, the
Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) subsystem covers National Certificates (NC) I
through IV corresponding to the first four levels while the Commission on Higher Education Subsystem cover
Baccalaureate, Postgraduate Diploma, Masters, and Doctorate that correspond to Levels VI to VIII. The two
Sub-systems interface in the provision of qualifications at level V.

The PQF considers Senior High School (Grade 12) as the foundation of the 8 levels, and provides eligible Senior
High School graduates the possibility of obtaining qualifications up to Level 5 as well as admission to degree
programs in Level 6.
