Internet is defined as the information technology. this means that anyone has to access to this highway, can
place information and can grab information.

Tips to Stay Safe Online


- Be mindful of what you share online
- Do not just accept terms and condition, read it.
- Check out the privacy policy page of a website
- Know the security features of the social networking you use.
- Do not share password with anyone.
- Avoid logging in to public networks/wi-fi
- Do not talk to strangers
- Never post anything about your future vacation
- Add friends in real life
- Avoid visiting untrusted websites
- Install antivirus software in your computer.
- If you have wi-fi at home make it private
- Avoid downloading anything from untrusted websites.
- Buy the software, do not use pirated ones.
- Do not reply or click from suspicious emails.

Virus - a malicious program designed to replicate itself and transfer from one computer to another
Worm - a malicious program that transfer from one computer to another by any type of means.
Trojan - a malicious program that is disguised as a useful program but once downloaded or installed.
Spyware - a program a program that runs in the background without you knowing it.
Adware - a program designed to send you advertisements, mostly as pop-ups

Spam - unwanted email mostly from bots or advertisers. It can be used to send malware.
Phishing - its goal is to acquire sensitive personal information like password and credit card details.

Computer Ethics and Netiquette


- always keep your software and application updated and uninstall the one you do not use.
- Do not divulge sensitive information online, especially on unsafe website.
- Be careful when dealing with emails from unknown sources or spam.
- Run your antivirus software before going online
- Think before you click
• before you post something on the web, ask these questions to yourself:
• You friends depend on you to protect their reputation online.
• Set your post to private. In this way search engines will not be able to scant that post.
• Avoid using names.
• If you feel that a post can affect you or other’s reputation, ask the one who posted it to pull down
or report it as inappropriate.
