MOBILE PHONE USAGE AND ITS PERCEIVED ILL HEALTH EFFECTS
Introduction:

Now-a-days, the numbers of smart phone users are increasing day-by-day all over the world.
Mobile phones have multiple functions apart from calling, which also include mobile gaming,
streaming music, photo & video sharing on social media like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter,
WhatsApp and etc. Increased rate of mobile phone usage affects the health of the people. The
effects may include neck pain, painful fingers, morning tiredness,headache, eye symptoms,
hypertension & etc.
Community Survey Project (CSP) was conducted in RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM (Latitude:
16.840046 and Longitude: 82.02459), East Godavari District,. This survey is conducted regarding
the Mobile phone usage and its perceived ill health effects.

I.PANGIDI
OBJECTIVES OF STUDY:
• To analyze the household awareness regarding Mobile phone usage and
its perceived ill health effects in RAMACHANDRAPURAM in urban and
rural areas.
• To evaluate the perception of usage Mobile phone among households. 
To examine the uses and effects of using Mobile phones.

SCOPE OF STUDY:

This study is aimed at understanding the Mobile phone usage and its perceived ill health
effects in RAMACHANDRAPURAM-533255 (Lat 16.840046 , Long 82.024259),in R
RAMACHANDRAPURAM from 18-05-2022 to 07-06-2022.
This study will provide valuable insights to understand the Mobile phone usage and
its perceived ill health effects and we can also get to know their satisfaction level by
using Mobile phone.

METHODOLOGY:
Source of Data Collection:
The data was collected through a structured questionnaire & it was approved by the
Department of Computer science, Govt (A) Degree College, Rajahmundry. Sample unit:
General public
Sample size: 40

DATA INTERPRETATION AND ANALYSIS:

Questionnaire was filled by 40 respondents in order to find out their views regarding
Mobile phone usage and its health effects

From the data, many of the respondents are using digital


payment products for sending money, booking tickets, food
ordering apps and groceries.

On the basis of the questionnaire that was administered to 70


respondents the findings were as follows:
1. Most of the people were using smart phones than the
basic phones, it is an example that the technology has
developed a little more than before.
2. As per the survey, the first priority of respondents for
using their mobile phones is for communication
purposes and then for entertainment purposes for
comes as second priority.
3. And then for entertainment purposes which comes as
second priority.
4. Few illiterates have started using smart phones for
different purposes like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram
and etc.
5. Most of the mobile phone users are suffering from
Neck pain, headache and eye strain.

Conclusions:

 It is so evident that from this survey, the usage of the


internet and social media  through mobile phones
has increased in the community.

 Social networking like WhatsApp, Facebook, and
YouTube was more used by  both literates and
illiterates in this community. Some of the perceived
ill health  effects are also common among the
population.
 An awareness program was conducted regarding the
Mobile phone usage and its  perceived ill health
effects.
 In the awareness program, we have explained about
the blue light that emits from  our mobile phones
which affects the vision by killing the photoreceptor
cells in  the retina.
 The effects of mobile phone usage, the maximum
time duration for using the
 mobile phone and the preventatives for the effects
caused by the Mobile phone usage.
