Spring Balance Construction-ABAMCOMFORT
Spring Balance Construction-ABAMCOMFORT
Apparatus
Spring, plastic pipe, hook, pointer (made of paper or plastic), measuring tape
Procedure
The spring balance was taken and stretched by putting weights on them. The extension of the
spring was measured using a metre rule. The spring constant was calculated using Hooke’s
law (F=k x), where F is the force applied, x is the extension of the spring, and k is the spring
constant.
The metal rod was cut to a suitable length (around 30-40 cm). the hook was fixed to one end
of the rod and attach the spring to the hook. The pointer was attached to the other end of the
rod, perpendicular to the rod. The rod was mounted on a base ensuring that it is fixed
vertically.
The scale on the rod was labelled with units of measurement (grams, kilograms, etc.) and
corresponding values of weight.
Usage:
To use the spring balance, hang the object to be weighed on the hook and observe the
extension of the spring. The extension of the spring will correspond to a weight on the scale.
Diagram
Discussion.
The weight of the object can be calculated using the spring constant and the extension of the
spring.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, a spring balance is a simple and useful instrument for measuring the weight of
small objects. It can be constructed using simple materials and can be used in various
applications. By following the above steps, one can construct a spring balance and use it to
measure weights with reasonable accuracy.
