1938 - he started his business in Taegu, Korea, trading noodles and other goods produced in and
around the city and exporting them to China and its provinces. (The company name, Samsung,
came from the Korean for “three stars.”)
POST KOREAN WAR 1950 - Lee expanded his business into textiles and opened the largest
woolen mill in Korea. He focused heavily on industrialization with the goal of helping his
country redevelop itself after the war. During that period his business benefited from the new
protectionist policies adopted by the Korean government, whose aim was to help large domestic
conglomerates (chaebol) by shielding them from competition and providing them easy financing.
1960 – In this era, Byung chull made a department store for his textile and woolen business.
This also became the largest oil refinery and nylon company in korea.
1970- the company expanded its textile-manufacturing processes to cover the full line of
production—from raw materials all the way to the product—to better compete in the textile
industry. By the end of the first quarter, the CEO began to enter the technology world, whereas
built the subsidiaries of the company that helped him to become one of the leading companies in
terms of offering the most quality technology.
1980’S To present – since there is a gateway for them to enter the elecotronic industry Samsung
became the largest semiconductor supplier of korea during the 80’s up to this present year. And
as the year goes by Samsung also created two research and development institutes that broadened
the company’s technology line into electronics, semiconductors, high-polymer chemicals, genetic
engineering tools, telecommunications, aerospace, and nanotechnology.
IMPORTANT NOTE: After the death of the owner of Samsung, which is Lee Byung Chull on
1987, it was succeeded by his son which is named as LEE KUN HEE. And in the 1990s the
company continued its expansion into the global electronics markets.

company is also a leading provider of 5G network equipment and solutions, partnering with
