Monologue Script in World religion

Mortals, be my witnesses
As I myself fulfill your wishes
Portraying the ever-blooming miss
Demeter; that`s me, goddess of harvest
From the empty void; chaos
Formed the earth and Tartarus
With the union of Gaea and Uranus
Give birth to the titan; Cronus
But overthrown by Zeus
Along with the dragon; typhus
In the great war, titans lose
Zeus now reigns; king of Olympus

And that`s where I came in, just like the Lord of the Heavens, I’m simply a child, a daughter of
Cronus and Rhea, but because of hatred and fear that I and my siblings will overthrow him, our father
swallowed each one of us as we were born. It`s really devastating to have begun my life inside my
father’s belly! (facial expressions). We would have spent the rest of our lives there if it weren’t for Zeus`
courage. But stop looking at me as someone very weak in match to Zeus for I am still the Goddess of the
sacred law, of the cycle of life and death, of seasons, of nature, agriculture , harvest, the earth`s fertility
and even motherhood!! I am still one of the 12 Olympian gods! I can punish you with famine, I can
choose to deny you bountiful harvests and I can even bestow suffering during the pregnancy of your
future wives!! So, don`t you dare mock this goddess! (calms down) let`s not forget the fact that I’m the
one who revealed to you; mortals the art of growing corn and from that simple thing, you progressed…
you lived on and you are right where you are today.

I hold the divine authority and absolute control over all plants. My emotions are in tuned to the
harvest and i can change the climate and state of the earth…the changes of the seasons flows with my
feelings….it all began back then when i was a consort of the mighty ruler of Olympians; Zeus, together
we had a daughter; Persephone. She was my everything, my happiness… a carefree, cheerful and spirited
one…oh my sweet virgin daughter! Yes, yes, I’m a mother and I can`t bear to be separated from my
daughter. I still recall the tragic day when she was taken away from me. I can clearly hear her screams as
she was being dragged down into the opened mouth of the ground, but I was too late!! I was too late!!
Desperate, heartbroken, I wandered the vast world in search for her! “Persephone?! Persephone!? Where
are you, my daughter?! No! There`s no time to eat! No! There`s no time to rest! I must find my
daughter…(kneels down)… my daughter!” But all in vain, weary with sorrow, I met an old man and he
invited me to their house, I had no time to waste but when I told him my situation, he understood me. He
had a dying son, so, not allowing time to pass, I went at their house, straight to the son’s room and kissed
his hand…restoring him to his full health!! You see, I’m not that careless! I resumed my fruitless search
and with the help of Helios, I found out that it was Hades after all! That hideous brother of mine! How
could he?! ‘Hades!!’ Hades?! And even with the blessing of Zeus?! He should know well! He was my
daughter`s father after all! I`m betrayed! I`m a fool to let that happen to my daughter…i slowly sank into
the swallowing charm of grief. My daughter Persephone…(sobs). I was so miserable that it brought
terrible famine to the world… I refused to go back to Olympus and resume my duties! Why would I? The
king: Zeus probably saw what was happening and sent me countless messengers with apologies… I
remained adamant and with the words; “unless my Persephone was rescued, the land will forever stay
barren!” Zeus sent Hermes to the underworld and I was finally reunited with my long lost
daughter…’Persephone, is this really you? ooohhh!” I hugged her tight though I was not pleased that she
would have to return to the underworld…her presence was enough, I resumed my duties and restored the
fertilities of the earth! I withdraw my favor for the period you knew as fall & winter, but my desolation
ends again if I’m to be with my daughter during summer & spring.!
Beloved mortals, I’m not as desperate as I appear to be, but for holding a great festival into a mysterious
worship in honor of my name, for calling me the “good goddess” you have my blessings ….bountiful
harvests will be upon you, countless heads of corn will ripen on your fields and your lands will be fertile
always!

I am Demeter; the Goddess of harvest, always remember to call on my name….(fading voice)

Questions, I’m not boasting about my mother… I’m just saying I’m proud that I’m her daughter
in my own ways. My mother is much like Demeter, caring, loving, endlessly searching for her daughter.
Despite the obstacles, my mother made a way for us to get together.

It is I; Elisama Balanggi the personification of Demeter…taking my leave! Adios!
