Linux Recommended File Systems For SAP System
Linux Recommended File Systems For SAP System
Linux Recommended File Systems For SAP System
Symptom
You want to use an SAP solution on Linux and search for decision support during the
selection of the file system to be used.
Other Terms
The SAP-supported Linux distributions propose several file systems that you can select.
Under certain circumstances, however, not every file system proposed by the relevant Linux
distribution is also recommended for the use of all applications or supported by the
respective application manufacturer. This applies in particular to use on database systems.
Solution
The use of a file system on Linux is allowed for SAP applications, provided the relevant
Linux distributor and the database manufacturer, if necessary, also ensure this support. The
same also applies for the use of storage systems.
In the Linux environment, we do not certify any file systems and storage systems for use at
the SAP application server level, and we also make no recommendations for certain file
systems and storage systems.
Nevertheless, other software solutions may not allow all of the file systems to be used to
the same extent.
The following is an overview of the recommendations for the relevant applications as far as
they are known:
IBM Db2
