(Very Short Answer Type Questions)
Note:- Answer all questions . As per the nature of the question you delimit your
answer in one word, one sentence or maximum up to 30 words. Each question carries
1 (one) mark. 4 x1 = 4
1 (i). Prove that the weak limit of a sequence is unique.
(ii) State closed graph theorem.
(iii) If x is an eigenvector of T, then prove that x cannot correspond more than one
eigenvalue of T.
(iv) Define adjoint opeartor.

Note:- Answer any two questions. Each answer should be given in 200 words. Each
question carries 4 marks. 2 x4
2. Prove that every compact subset of a normed linear space is complete and bounded.
3. Prove that a closed convex subset K of a Hilbert Space H contains a unique vector
of smallest norm.
4. If P is a projection on a Hilbert space H with range M and null space N , then prove
that M  N if and only if P is self adjoint, and in this case N  M .

5. Prove that every compact subset of a normal linear space is complete.
