Tricks in Multiplication (II)

IMPORTANT NOTES

1) In multiplication, it does not matter what order we multiply

numbers, we will always get the same answer.
Example: 3 x 5 = 15
5 x 3 = 15
So, 3 x 5 = 5 x 3

2) It does not matter how we group the numbers that we are

multiplying, we will still get the same answer.
Example: (3 x 4) x 2 = 12 x 2 = 24
3 x (4 x 2) = 3 x 8 = 24
So, (3 x 4) x 2 = 3 x (4 x 2)

3) Special Multiplication:

2 x 5 = 10
4 x 25 = 100
8 x 125 = 1000
4 x 125 = 500

4) The sum of a number multiply by each of the numbers separately is

equal to that number multiplied by the sum of the two or more numbers.
Example: 4 x 2 + 4 x 3 = 8 + 12 = 20
4 x (2 + 3) = 4 x 5 = 20
So, 4 x 2 + 4 x 3 = 4 x (2 + 3)
