Field The instruments in the field collect data such as level, temperature,
instrumentation density and/or pressure. The instruments are based on several
principles: mechanical, servo, radar, hydrostatic and capacitive or
a combination. The instruments measure the data and transmit it
upon request of higher layered systems.
Ensite Pro is a configuration tool for commissioning, diagnostics and
Ensite Pro documentation of the above mentioned modules CIU Prime / Plus
(880 series) and Entis Pro.
Some information will be asked to fill in, needed to program the CIU
- Commissioning Prime / Plus. Ensite Pro automatically puts the input on the right
(default) positions.
The build in diagnostic data views, reads and writes data direct from
- Diagnostics
and to the CIU Prime / Plus.
The whole configuration can be printed to have a hard back-up.
- Documentation
See later in this manual.
The configuration tool works with windows. Within these windows are
buttons, on which the function is written. One of the characters on a
button is underlined.
Throughout the configuration tool, common buttons are used.
Their description is given once:
Press the ‘Ok’-button to save the changed parameters in the
site database and terminate the dialog.
Press the ‘Cancel’-button to ignore any changes made. The
program returns to the previous window. In some cases this
button has been renamed into ‘Close’.
To indicate that a value is modified the background colour
of input boxes, drop down boxes, checkboxes and radio
buttons get yellow once the contents is changed.
Pressing cancel restores the values of the modified fields which
have a yellow background. The values to restore are the values
retrieved from the database at opening or the last applied.
If the new value is accepted by pressing Apply or OK the new
values get stored in the database and the background returns
to the default colour.
Press the ‘Apply’-button to save the changed parameters in
the site database and work with it accordingly, but remain in
the active window. All fields with a yellow background colours
back to the default background colour.
Press the ‘Advanced’-button or check the embedded
checkbox to activate the advanced part in the active window.
This chapter describes the general configuration procedure for the 880 CIU
Prime, CIU Plus. For programming the 880 series CIU’s, it is necessary to
use Ensite Pro.
It is programmable to communicate via one of the higher levels, i.e. via
a CIU Plus to a CIU Prime, or even via Entis Pro to any of the connected
CIU’s.
Procedure steps
Preparation
Before you start configuring 880 series CIU and possible one or more Entis
Pro stations, certain preparations are necessary. Be sure that the following
information is available:
Site layout
ield cabling information (which gauges are connected on the same pair
F
of field wires, etc.)
Tag names of field devices (gauges, CIU and tanks)
Tank information (strapping tables, or tank capacity tables, roof details, etc.)
Information on the types of stored product
Host communication setup
(if applicable, i.e. Modbus memory maps, etc.)
odems and possible other communication hardware connected to
M
the CIU’s
As first step the gauges should be configured correctly. This can best be
done by means of the DOS program ENSITE or its successor Engauge.
With ENSITE the so called .LOG files can be created. These .LOG files
contain all the programmable settings of relevant gauge.
If no gauges are installed yet, it is also possible to prepare these in
ENSITE. They can then later be down loaded into the gauge.
In the 880 series CIU Prime, the following parts can be configured:
HostPort 1
HostPort 2
Hot standby (if applicable)
Field ports (1 through 4)
The hot standby settings are required if redundant CIU Primes are installed.
The Field ports settings depend on the type of the installed interface cards
in the CIU Prime. The host port settings are required to make the CIU
Prime compatible with the connected hardware and software, i.e. the CIU
Plus or a PLC. Refer to chapter Modbus settings in this manual.
In the 880 series CIU Plus, the following parts can be configured:
Hostports (1 through 4)
Hot standby (if applicable)
FieldPort 1
FieldPort 2
he hot standby settings are required if redundant CIU Primes and/or
T
CIU Pluses are installed.
The host port settings are required to make the CIU Plus compatible with
the connected hardware and software, i.e. a PLC, Entis Pro or a DCS
system. Refer to chapter Modbus settings in this manual. The FieldPort
settings inform the CIU Plus about the communication setting to one or
more CIU Primes.
After all the data inputs, Tanks, CIU Primes and CIU Pluses are configured
the linking of all devices can commence. On basis of the actual or planned
installation, the user has now to link the hardware:
The data inputs to the tanks,
The tanks to the CIU Primes,
The CIU Primes to the CIU Pluses.
Refer to the chapter Configure link in this manual.
Once you have verified all the settings of all the devices, you can download
the configuration database into the respective CIUs.
The first time it is advised to do downloading directly on the targeted CIU
(Prime of Plus). Ensite Pro offers this downloading as a standard feature,
even over modem lines.
Later modifications on the CIU configuration can also be done via a
CIU Plus into a CIU Prime or even via Entis Pro from any of the network
stations.

If any changes are made to any of the CIU Plus settings (while a hot
standby counterpart is defined), the program will warn to keep the
configurations of both units synchronous.
If ‘Primary’ is selected, while no secondary CIU Plus exists, the hot
standby facility can not be established.
- CIU Primes connected The ports of the CIU Primes and Pluses must be
to both primary and connected according to the diagram:
secondary Plus.
All settings of the CIU Plus Fieldports have the same default settings as
defined for the HostPorts of the CIU Prime. This means that for fieldports
physically connected to the Prime, none of the settings needs to be altered.

The (new) programmed configuration must be downloaded for the CIU Prime
/ Plus to work with. In case a CIU Prime is connected to a Plus the CIU Prime
must be downloaded first as the Plus requires the CRC’s of Prime.
After completion of receiving the data the CIU Plus calculates CRC over
the configuration data. At the end of the download cycles Ensite Pro
gets the CRCs and stores them in the database. For each download
Ensite compares the CRCs in the database with the current CRCs of the
CIU. Ensite uses this in combination with the changed flag per entity to
determine what data to send.

The CIU Prime / Plus calculates an overall CRC over the settings. Ensite
- CRC Pro fetches this CRC after a download and saves it in its database. The
CRC status can be:
- Changed The Changed status can be ‘Y’ or ‘N’ (Yes/No). The status is ‘Y’
if a new CIU is created or if any CIU setting is changed. The CRC
status and the Changed status can change independently.
Hot standby
In case of Hot standby proceed as follows:
• Download the Primary CIU Prime,
• Download the secondary CIU Prime,
• Download the Primary CIU Plus,
• Download the Secondary CIU Plus.

The CIU Plus and Prime represent the data of their internal database in the
Modbus area of the host ports. The Modbus mapping of ports not in use
by the Entis Pro system (CIU Plus HostPorts not connected to any Entis
Pro station and/or CIU Prime HostPorts not connected to any CIU plus)
can be Modified to become compliant with third party Modbus hosts. To
call the dialogs described here the hostport of the CIU plus or Prime must
be set to user specified. Refer to the chapters “CIU Prime – HostPort n”
and “CIU Plus - HostPort(s)”.
