ELECTION COMMISSION • Article – 324
• Head – Chief Election Commissioner
• Members – Election Commissioners, number fixed by President
• Resignation – To President
• Removal:
o CEC – Same process as a judge of Supreme Court
o EC – On the recommendation of CEC
• Future Employment – Allowed
UPSC • Article – 315-323
• Head – Chairperson
• Members – Fixed by the president
• Term – 6 years/65 years of age
• Qualification – Half of the members of the commission should
have held office in Central and State Government for at least 10
years
• Resignation – President
• Removal – President: Insolvency, Paid Employment, Infirmity,
Misbehaviour. Supreme Court Enquiry has to be done and its
advice is binding
• Future Employment – Not Allowed
• Second Term – Not Allowed
SPSC • Article – 315-323
• Head – Chairperson
• Members – Fixed by governor
• Term – 6 years/ 62 years of age
• Qualification – Half of the members of the commission should
have held office in Central and State Government for at least 10
years
• Resignation – Governor
• Removal – President: Insolvency, Paid Employment, Infirmity,
Misbehaviour. Supreme Court Enquiry has to be done and its
advice is binding
• Future Employment – Not Allowed
• Second term – Not allowed.
FINANCE COMMISSION • Article – 280
• Head – Chairperson
• Members – 5 (Chairman + 4 Members)
o Qualification – According to Parliament Finance Commission
act, 1951,

GOODS AND SERVICES • Article – 279-A
TAX COUNCIL • Head – Chairperson: The Union Finance Minister
• Members –
o 33 – 2 From Centre, 28 from each state and 3 Union
Territories with Legislation.
o The other members of the GST Council include the Union
State Minister of Revenue or Finance and Ministers in charge
of Finance or Taxation of all the States.
