Formulas for Area A, Perimeter P, Circumference C, and Volume V

A = L2

P=4xl

l = length of side

Rectangle

A=lw

P = 2l + 2w

l = length

w = width

Circle

Area = π r2

Circumference = 2 π r

r = radius

Sector of a Circle

Triangle
h = height

b = base

Trapezoid

h = height

b1 and b2 are called bases

Parallelogram

A=bh

P = 2a + 2b

b = base; h = height

a = side

Pythagorean Theorem

H2 = B2 + P2 =

H = hypotenuse

B = base

P = perpendicular

Cube

Surface Area = 6 l2

Volume = l3

l = side or edge
Rectangular Solid
V = l× w× h

A = 2 (l ×w) + 2( l ×h) + 2 (w× h)

l = length; w = width; h = height

Circular Cylinder
For right circular cylinder:

V = π r2 h

Surface area of cylinder =2 π r2 + 2 π r h

Curved Surface area = 2 π r h (excluding top and bottom areas)

r = radius; h = height
Cylinder or Prism
V = Base area × height of prism
Surface area of prism = perimeter of the base× height of prism +2(Base area)

A = area of base; Length = height of prism

Sphere

A = 4 p r2

r = radius
Hemisphere

Curved Surface area hemisphere = 2πr2

Surface area of solid sphere = 3πr2

Right Circular Cone

Surface area of solid cone = πr2 + πrl

Curved surface area = π r l

Pyramid

× base area × height

Base area = l ×w

Surface area = Sum of area of all its faces

A = area of base; h = height
