for her family finds that her efforts have caused a rift between her and her children in
this downbeat family drama. Josie (Vilma Santos) is a mother of three from the
Philippines who took a job in Hong Kong, working as a nanny for a wealthy couple
for several years.
Josie knew she could make far more money in Hong Kong than she could at
home, but she also had qualms about how this would effect her children, especially
when her husband died not long after she left.
When Josie returns home, she has gifts for everyone and has saved a large
percentage of her salary, which she plans to use to start a business; but her children
don't welcome their mother with open arms.
The younger kids, Daday (Sheila May Alvero) and Michael (Baron Geisler), are
guarded around Josie, and while in time they are able to mend their relationship with
their mother, the oldest, Carla (Claudine Barretto) does nothing to disguise her
resentment for what she sees as a callous abandonment of her family.

SIGNIFICANCE OF OUR SUBJECT :

The movie Anak is that mother's are not perfect. The movie also teaches that
children need to realize that mother's are people who make sacrifices for their
families.Unconditional Love. One of the most evident themes is the unconditional
love. The unconditional love of a mother, the unconditional love for her family and
her unconditional love for her daughter that despite the circumstances she showed no
weakness in her daughter.

Sacrifice. The movie gives us a glimpse of how much an Overseas Filipino

Workers had sacrificed for their family in working abroad. The movie gives a a lesson
that in life sacrifices are important in order to progress.

Never Giving Up. Although faced with so much challenges and adversity, the
movie tackles an important lesson which is to not give up in life. Josie was struggling
by the abuses of her boss and as well as the burden from her family. But she managed
to remained optimistic as much as possible as she faced her problems.

Forgiveness. The most important lesson that the movie had shown us is the
importance of forgiveness. The movie depicts how hard it is to live with a heart full of
hatred. Forgiving someone is very important as it makes us feel better and happy. This
is something that we can really apply in our daily lives.

Appreciation. In the movie ,Carla represents just how many Filipinos can be
ungrateful at the same time, a possible consequence in OFW families, namely parental
estrangement, right? The movie teaches us to appreciate every little things that we
have.
CREATIVITY:

Where to begin ? Anak (or 'The Child' as it is known in the West) is an

absolutely amazing movie, a movie so powerful that it deserves to be watched by
everyone. The Story is set around Josie and her family, Many years ago - Josie had to
leave her family and become a domestic over-seas so she that she could provide
money to support her family, when Josies husband dies, Josie returns to her family to
take over her job as mother, but when she returns, her family is anything but loving
and welcoming.

The acting in this movie is magnificent, I had never heard of Vilma Santos
until I watched Anak, however after seeing it I had to rent out some of her other
movies, the emotion shown by Vilma, and the other actors is amazing and at times
you really can find yourself believing that this family is real. There were times in the
movie I laughed, times I cried, but I loved every second of it, and it blows almost
every Hollywood movie out of the water.

Anak just goes to show that a movie dosn't need to have sex, drugs &
violence, and also not be a Children's movie to be excellent and a must-see for the
entire family.
