● If you are having a virus warning appear with the .7z file, try downloading the .

zip file
instead.

● Because the game has not been patched, the Lumiose Save Glitch is still present in the
game. Do not save in the streets of Lumiose City - always make sure to save inside one of
the buildings or on another route.

● Text is only updated for the English version. If you are playing in a non-English language,
you may miss out on updated dialogue and certain aspects of the game might be more
confusing than anticipated.

● There is a known bug with Delphox that crashes the game if Delphox is the first model to
be loaded when accessing your PC. To prevent this, avoid having Delphox as the first
Pokemon in your party or in your box. Save regularly. If you have somehow soft-locked
yourself and cannot access your PC without it crashing, delete the romfs/a/0/0/7 file. You
can re-add it safely after you’ve fixed the issue.

Installing Ancestral X w/ Citra

This guide assumes that you already have a Pokemon X ROM available to you, and set up for use with
Citra.
1. Download the Ancestral X zip file and extract it using 7-zip or WinRAR.
2. If you are using Citra for the first time, you’ll need to add a Games Directory. Browse for the folder
where you’ve placed your Pokemon X ROM (which should be outside of the Citra folder!) and set
that as your Games Directory.
3. Right click on your Pokemon X ROM in your Citra Games Directory, and select “Open Mods
Location.”
4. Be sure that the folder you are in is named “0004000000055D00”. This is the title code for
Pokemon X. If your folder doesn’t match this, you’re in the folder for a different game.
5. If the folder you’ve opened is not empty, delete all files in the folder.
6. Copy and paste the extracted contents from the Ancestral X zip into the Mods folder that you
opened in step 2. This should only include the “romfs” folder and the “code.bin” file.
7. You should be ready to play! You can go back to Citra and launch Pokemon X normally. If you see
the Ancestral X title screen, you installed it correctly!

Installing Ancestral X w/ Luma3DS

Due to an ongoing bug with the Mega Pokemon models on native 3DS hardware, I have been
unfortunately forced to disable the models*. An extra step (4a) has been added to the steps
below until that issue is resolved.

* Mega Pokemon still function in their entirety - the only difference is that there will not be a
new model for the associated Mega, and they will visually remain the same as their base form.
Luma3DS is a custom firmware for the 3DS, allowing you to play Ancestral X directly on your native
device without the use of an emulator. Thanks to Dohko & Darkest Absol for detailing this method.
1. Download the Ancestral X zip file and extract it using 7-zip or WinRAR.
2. In your 3DS, be sure to delete any update patches.
a. To find update patches, go to System Settings->App->Data Management->Nintendo 3DS-
>Downloadable Content.
b. Select Pokemon X and delete any update data if it exists.
3. Navigate to the luma/titles folder on your 3DS SD card. If there is not a folder within named
”0004000000055D00”, create that now.
4. Copy the extracted contents of the Ancestral X zip file - this should only include the “romfs” folder
and “code.bin” file - into the “0004000000055D00” folder.
a. Navigate to the romfs/a/0/0 folder, and delete the file marked “7”.
5. Reinsert your SD card and power on your 3DS while holding Select. This should bring you to the
Luma boot screen.
6. Enable game patching within the Luma settings.
7. You should be ready to play! If you see the Ancestral X title screen, you installed it correctly!

Installing Ancestral X w/ Citra for Android

Video Guide: How to use Game Mods on Citra Android - Part 1: RomFS
This guide assumes that you already have a Pokemon X ROM available to you, and set up for use with
Citra for Android. If you do not have Citra, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
1. Download the Ancestral X zip file and extract it.
2. Navigate to the citra-emu/load folder within your Citra directory. If you are installing any mod for
the first time, you’ll need to add a Mods folder.
3. Inside the Mods folder, create a new folder, titled “0004000000055D00”. This is the title code for
Pokemon X.
4. If the folder you’ve opened is not empty, delete all files in the folder.
5. Copy and paste the extracted contents from the Ancestral X zip into the folder you just created in
step 3. This should only include the “romfs” folder and the “code.bin” file.
6. You should be ready to play! If you see the Ancestral X title screen, you installed it correctly!
