NAHS Orchestras

2024 Spring at a Glance


Provided below is information for the Orchestra’s four upcoming field trips for the Spring 2024 Semester.
Detailed itineraries for each trip will be sent out before the event.

Joye in Aiken – Julliard Historical Ensemble


Students will have a private concert by the Julliard Historical Ensemble and will have the opportunity to speak
to the performers.
 Wednesday March 6th
o Depart NAHS at 10:30am, return ~2:45pm
 St. John’s Methodist Church (104 Newberry St NW, Aiken, SC 29801)
 We will stop for lunch in Aiken, location TBD. Students will need money for lunch.

Carowinds Festival of Music


Adjudicated performance followed by a day in the park!
 Saturday March 16th
o Depart NAHS at 6:00am
o Concert Orchestra will perform at 10:00am
o Symphonic Orchestra will perform at 12:00pm
o Return to NAHS ~10:00pm
 Carowinds (14523 Carowinds Blvd. , Charlotte, NC 28273)
 Students will be given a meal ticket to eat lunch in the park. They will need money for a fast-food dinner
on the way home.
 Performance Attire: Black NAHS Orchestra t-shirt, blue jeans (no tears), close-toed shoes.

Concert Performance Assessment


State music assessment, based on an adjudicated performance for stage judges and a sightreading judge.
 Wednesday March 27th
o Performance times TBD, should be announced at the end of January
o Depart/Return times depend on our assigned performance slots
 Irmo High School (6671 St Andrews Rd, Columbia, SC 29212)
 We will stop at the Columbiana Mall (100 Columbiana Cir, Columbia, SC 29212) for lunch after our
performances. Students will need money for lunch.
 Performance Attire: Formal, Concert Black

Garcia All-County Orchestra Festival


Students will participate in a full-day Orchestra clinic with string, wind, and percussion students from across
Aiken County. The day will end with a concert featuring the music rehearsed during the clinic.
 Wednesday April 17th
o Students will need to arrive before 8:00am
o Concerts will begin at 6:30pm
 University of South Carolina Etherredge Center (340 Scholar Loop, Aiken, SC 29801)
 Students must provide their own transportation to/from USCA.
 $20 registration fee, covers:
o dinner in the USCA dining hall
o a t-shirt
o the cost of facilities
 Students will be provided Chickfila for lunch.
 Registration will open at the end of January and will close in March.
 Performance Attire: Formal, Concert Black.
