INTRODUCTION

The Noblest Profession

Our Teacher, our Hero!

Due to COVID-19, many states, districts, and schools are having to re-
conceptualize K–12 education and are balancing between ensuring the safety of
students, staff members, and families, while also delivering high-quality
learning experiences that ensure equitable outcomes for all students. For many
teachers, teaching in a virtual context is new. Few educator preparation
programs prepare teachers to teach in a virtual environment (Archambault,
2011; Kennedy & Archambault, 2012; Dawley, Rice, & Hinck, 2010), and yet,
more than ever, teachers will need professional development, support, and
feedback on how to navigate the transition from in-person to virtual learning.

In addition, other aspects of teaching and learning will require greater

priority in evaluation and feedback and support to teachers—specifically, a
focus on social-emotional learning, relationship building, and student
engagement.

As Scott Hayden said “Teachers have three loves: Love of learning, Love
of learners, and the love of bringing the first two loves together.”

WHATS UP?
COOPERATING SCHOOL

WESTERN MINDANAO STATE UNIVERISTY specially the COLLEGE OF

SPORTS SCIENCE AND PHYSICAL EDUCATIO and the INTEGRATED
LABORATORY SCHOOL, is my cooperating school. Knowing that the school
that we are serving is the source of our skills and knowledge, we should showcase
our skills in teaching and knowledge that we got in our 3 academic years to prove
that they equipped its students with knowledge and skills and produces
professional teachers.
IDENTIFY THE SCHOOL EXPECTATION

Being the pioneer of the Bachelor of Physical Education Program is not easy,
there were many expectations towards us. The school expected that we, student
teachers or the pre-service teachers should showcase our skills in teaching and
knowledge that we got in our 3 years being in this field. We were also expected to
make our students realized that Physical Education helps to develop their
competence and confidence to take part in a range of physical activities that become
a central part of their lives, both in and out of school. And we were also expected to
nurture and successfully prepare our students for the next stages of their lives.

FAMILIARIZE MYSELF WITH THE FACILITIES OF THE SCHOOL

September 09, 2021 was our first day in Western Mindanao State University,
ILS. The facilities of Western Mindanao State University are good, they have clinic,
gymnasium, canteens, laboratories, faculty and other facilities. But due to this
pandemic, those facilities were being used by the teachers and other faculties. The
university come up an alternative learning strategies which are the online classes and
modular education system or learning modalities. We had our online class through
Microsoft Teams LMS.

EPISODE 4

September 14, 2021, 9:50-10:50 am. Our first online class observation. The section 10-
STE Rosalejos class, Sir Billy asked one of the student on what topic they stopped discussing last
meeting from class. The class were a bit participative, they were able to answer what was the
previous lesson is all about. Sir Billy continued his discussion, the student was listening and at
some part of the discussion Sir Billy asked for question randomly, to know if each of the students
are really listening and paying attention to him.

September 15, 2021, 2:30-3:30 pm. Our second online class observation. We also used MS teams
for the online class of 10-Varona. Our cooperating teacher Sir Billy, conducted an activity about
the previous lesson. The instructions are given clearly in order for the students to cope up
immediately. The result of the activity reached beyond my expectation because they were able to
make it because of their active participation to the class.
September 23, 2021, 9:50-10:50 AM, was our third online class observation in our LMS
MS teams as well for the online class of 10- Parangan. At this moment some of the student
encountered problems with their internet connection, most of them were choppy and wasn't able
to enter back in class due to its bad weather and slow internet connections. Whenever Sir Billy call
for a certain student to answer his question they aren't speaking well because of the signal it was
very choppy. But after all, it was a success even though the signal isn't that good

September 24, 2021, 1:00-2:00 PM, was our last online class observation. We used MS
teams for the online class of 10-Ibañez. Our cooperating teacher present a video that actually has
a connection to the topic will be discussed, upon viewing the video he asks for insight regarding
to the video that is been presented, I realized that this will be an advantage for the teacher to
identify if the student has some knowledge prior to the lesson. After asking for some question he
started to create a group which is one of the functions of the MS teams, upon putting them in a
certain room with their groups. He enters each room to provide instructions that are specified by
the groups. This is a very effective strategy to apply during our pre service teaching.
