FREEDOM

Free, is a word from the word Freedom. It is a broad word to explain as it goes deep with a lot of components of
it. It can be free from cruelty or free from being what people dictate to us. I am a woman, who does everything I
want. I post everything I want to post on my Facebook account. For me, I am free, free to do what I want to do,
and what makes me think that I am free is that my family is supportive of what I am doing. As a student who is
still depending on my brothers and mother, and as a girl who is still living under the roof of my parents. Doing
everything that makes me happy right now is what makes me feel that I am free. My mother and brothers, let me
wear whatever I wanted to wear, and they let me choose the course I wanted to take, from that as a dependent
child, I could say that I am free. The word ‘’Free’’ for me means the external aspect that I can do if I desire
without the hindrance of others. I also have a lot of experience that could confirm that I am free. The first one is
having boyfriends. My Mama especially my brothers, let me experience it. They don’t stop me from having it but
they just tell me to be careful because life ahead of me is still a long way to go. Second, my family lets me wear
sexy dresses or formal dresses that I enjoy as long as I am happy and of course, I am very happy about that.
The next thing is, that they let me spread my wings to try any things that would give me learning. The freedom for
me is not because I am depending on my freedom to them, but as a student who depends on my family, my
freedom is still limited but they don’t hold me back in broadening my perspective of freedom from experiences. In
some aspects, I am free. Free to choose what I want. Just like if I wanted to eat something during lunch breaks
and I desire to eat hamburgers, I buy and eat it without hindrance. Just like this assignment. I have the freedom
to not do this if I don’t want to but I still do this because I wanted to pass and learn on this subject. The freedom
word is a very subjective and objective one just like the Philosophy—Actually, the topic of being free is part of
Philosophy but what makes it different is that Philosophy is subjective and there’s also objectivity in every
subjective but in freedom or being free. It’s already subjective being merged with objective. As what we observe
in our world. What we do has a dominant effect on others especially on our family. What we say outside reflects
on our parents, what we do outside, people think that what our siblings are doing also. From that, we can see
from my whole point that you can be free in your way if you want but being free is composed of actions and
words that will have a dominant effect on people which is objective in a moral way, providing the question ‘’is our
freedom way is right or wrong?’’ From that question, we can sense that we are morally responsible for having
freedom because we have also an identity. We are also human, who dominates the world and other people.
What we do as a freedom will affect people because everything we do is connected to others, that’s where the
word influence came from. We do our things, and people follow them because philosophically, you can
understand yourself if you put your shoes on others. There’s also general right and wrong that we are also
responsible for doing because freedom doesn’t mean just doing anything you want but freedom is all about doing
what is right and able to avoid what is wrong.

Freedom, as I stated means doing what is right and being able to avoid what is wrong but with the statement: ‘’If
human actions are determined by natural causes, then, human beings are not morally responsible for their acts.’’
This perspective is pointing to the word ‘’Destiny’’ that you are already destined to be that way that’s why it
happened to you. Humans are already destined to do what they did because it’s all a plan. In a kind of way, it is
already a natural cause because it is already planned from that, it concludes that we are not responsible for what
is right and wrong as we are just going with destiny. We didn’t do it, it’s just a natural cause because it is already
destined. Maybe? There are also circumstances in a human act that are just a natural cause. Just like when you
decide to go out to the mall. You ride a jeep and then get into an accident, it is natural that you tend to die without
you choosing it to happen to you.
There are a lot of circumstances in which we are not responsible as it is caused by natural causes but there are
also some instances that we are the ones who decide if we do it or not because it is good or bad. Choosing the
decision, knowing that we are also responsible for the possibilities because we are morally thought of right and
not, in natural causes in life.
