3. SAMPLE ESSAY

Pursuing a better education has become one of the reasons why people decide to live abroad.
Although studying abroad might bring some disadvantages, I believe that studying abroad brings
more positive impacts than drawbacks.

On the one hand, there are several benefits to studying abroad. One advantage is that it broadens
students' networks. In other words, studying abroad allows individuals to interact with various
people from different backgrounds and be exposed to multiple customs and lifestyles. As a result,
they will develop tolerance and respect for other cultures. Another benefit is that foreign
institutions in developed countries mainly offer more sophisticated education systems. This
means that many people who graduate from foreign universities will have better qualifications
to help them obtain greater job opportunities.

On the other hand, studying overseas also brings some problems. Firstly, students might suffer
from culture shock. This is because studying alone in a new country and in an unfamiliar culture
can lead to homesickness. Even worse, if they cannot adapt well to the learning system, they
might fall into depression because of academic pressure. Another potential drawback is that
studying overseas is expensive. This can be a problem for students who have to self-fund because
they have to study and work hard to fulfill their own needs.

In conclusion, despite some problems such as culture shock and high costs, I believe that the
benefits of studying abroad far outweigh the drawbacks. The advantages include building better
networks and learning from established education systems in developed countries.
