GRADE 6 LESSON PLAN Learning Area SCIENCE


Teaching Dates and Time WEEK 7 – DAY 1-5
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. Identify the non-flowering plants from a flowering plants;
b. Demonstrate understanding of how non-flowering plants reproduce; S6LT-llg-h-4
c. Appreciate the importance of the plants in our daily lives

PROCEDURES
A. ENGAGE Task no. 1 – Read Me

1. Drill Let the students read the following words show on the TV screen.

Ferns Liverworts Hornworts

Mosses Whisk Ferns Mushroom


2. Review The teacher will present pictures of different modes of reproduction
(IPED Materials) of non-flowering. Let the students tell if they are non-flowering or
flowering plants. Show thumbs up if the modes is a non-flowering
and thumbs down if it is not non-flowering plants.

B. EXPLORE Task No. 2: Place the Picture


Activity Instructions:
1. Motivation 1. The teacher will call 8 participants to go to the front and pick
a picture inside the box
2. After picking a picture of a plant, the participant will show
the picture to the class and name the plant and place it to the
board if it is flowering plant or non-flowering plant, and so on
as one at a time.
3. When the pictures are placed to the board the teacher will
shortly introduce the different kinds of plants.

The class will be divided into 3 groups, after that the teacher will let
them go out and list down for at least 5 non-flowering plants that

in naming the plants if they do not know the name of it in English
language.
After the activity, the teacher will ask about the names of the plants
in each group.

C. EXPLAIN Task No. 4. Group Reporting
Activity instruction: The same group earlier in the Pre-activity;
Group 1. The Group 1 will differentiate the Non-flowering plants
from flowering plants using the Venn-diagram

Group 2: The Group 2 to will have a model of a Non-flowering plants


and explain it in front of the class the importance of this plants.

Group 3: The Group 3 will be assign to make a poem about the


plants

(rubric of this activity will be attached at the back of this LP)

After all the reporting the teacher will insert a short background
information about the topic.

D. ELABORATE

1. Generalization The teacher will then ask about the reproduction of Non-flowering
plants and summarize the whole topic.
-The teacher will ask the students the importance of the plants in
our daily lives.
