A Detailed Lesson Plan

ENGLISH 9
S.Y. 2023-2024

Demonstrator: CZARINA JANNE T. GASPER

I. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of how Anglo-American literature and other text
types serve as means of enhancing the self; also how to use processing, assessing, summarizing information, word
derivation and formation strategies, appropriate word order, punctuation marks and interjections to enable him/her to
participate actively in a speech choir.

II. Perfromance Standard: The learner actively participates in a speech choir through using effective verbal and
non-verbal strategies based on the following criteria:
Focus, Voice, Delivery, Facial Expressions, Body Movements/ Gestures and Audience Contact.
III. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, 75% of the students are expected to:

a. Define what is prediction;


b. Realize the importance of making predictions/predicting outcomes.
c. Make predictions based from the material viewed.

We are fine.
That’s great!

Today we are going to have an interesting lesson, but before


anything else let me read to you our lesson objectives for
today.
a. Define what is prediction;
b. Appreciate the importance of cooperation during group
activity;
c. Make predictions based from the material viewed.
1. Review
Last time we have have discussed how to determine the
relevance and worth of ideas, soundness of author, and
effectivity of the text.

2. Motivation
Today we are going to have a new lesson but I want you to
meet someone first. Are you ready to meet him? Then, let us
watch this short movie clip.
So you have met Pepe, what do you think is the job of Pepe
based on the movie clip? He is a fortune teller.

What does a fortune teller do?


They predict the future.

Very good! They foresee or predict the future.

Today you are going to be just like Pepe, you are going to be a
fortune teller.
Now let us test your fortune telling ability with this activity.

A. Activity
Okay, I will divide you into two groups. I have two sets of
which pictures that shows a different scenarios and different
outcomes. All you have to do is to match the scenario and its
predicted outcome. Is it clear?
The group who can finish the activity first and can post their Yes, Ma’am.
work on the board will be considered winner and will receive
a price after the class. However, if the other group happened to
have earned higher points, then they will be considered as the
victor of the game.

will be given scenarios and all you have to do is to foresee
what you think will happen next.

I will divide you into three groups. Each group will be given
different task to accomplish.
Leader of each group, please come to the front and pick your
activity number. I will give 15 minutes to prepare for the
activity.

Activity #1:
Based on the picture provided write a scenario and a predicted
outcome.

The students will do the activity.


Activity #2:
From the same picture, draw your prediction. Make it clear and
creative as possible.

Activity # 3:
Role playing.
Reinact the story provided. For a twist, make your own ending
guided by the question below.
There was once a poor father and daughter who lived in the
slams. They were very poor in which they were already
considered lucky to eat at least once a day. One day, the
daughter got sick and the father does not know what to do for
the hospitals will not accept them without paying the down
payment. The father got no choice but to rob a bank to pay for
his daughter’s hospital expenses.
