conditionals.

Our lesson for today is about the use of


conditionals in arguments. Let us begin by
defining conditionals.

Conditionals – a conditional sentence are used in (The student will listen attentively the

A conditional sentence consist of two parts: an if
clause and a main clause or the result clause.

Example:
If you heat water to 100 degrees Celsius, it boils.

Zero conditional - gives a fact , a rule or a true


situation. One thing follows the other.
Structure of zero conditional:
 If + simple present verb tense.. subject +
simple present verb tense.
Example:
If you heat ice, it melts.
The grass gets wet if it rains.
If you mix red and blue, you get purple.
First conditional – it used to talk about things
which might happen in the future. It is possible
and very likely that the condition will be fulfilled.
Structure of First conditional:
 If + subject + simple present verb tense..

Example:
If it rains tomorrow, we will stay indoors.
If you study hard, you will pass the exam.
