after treatment. Based on the results of the weed initial analysis, 7 species of weeds
consisting of broad-leaf weeds were found. From the weed analysis after the
treatment, 9 species of weeds were found.
(Total weed dry weight) The following is the table of the weed dry weight due to
interactions between the planting system treatment and weeding time. In the tandur
jajar cropping system and weeding 1 time, weed dry weight was not significantly
different from the tandur jajar cropping system and weeding 2 times. However, weed
dry weight was significantly higher compared with weeding 3 times. In the jajar
legowo cropping system and weeding 2 times, weed dry weight was not significantly
different from the jajar legowo planting system and weeding system 3 times. The
treatment of jajar legowo cropping system and without weeding resulted in higher
weed dry weight compared to the treatment of weeding 1, 2 and 3 times.
(Plant height) The results of the variance analysis showed that there was no
interaction between the planting system treatment and weeding time on plant height.
Planting system treatment did not significantly affect the age of 35 days to 56 days
after planting. Meanwhile, at the age of 35 days the weeding treatment resulted in
significantly lower plant height compared to weeding 3 times but not significantly
different height from the weeding 1 time. At the age of 42 days of observation after
planting, the treatment without real weeding resulted in a lower plant height
compared to weeding 3 times, but not significantly different height from weeding 1
time. At the age of 49 and 56 days, the weeding treatment resulted in significantly
lower plant height compared to weeding 3 times but not significantly different height
from the weeding 1 time.
(Number of leaves) The results of the variance analysis showed that there was no
interaction between the planting system treatment and weeding time on the number of
edamame leaves. Planting system treatment did not significantly affect the number of
leaves at the age of 35 to 56 days after planting. At the age of 35 to 56 days the
treatment without weeding resulted in significantly lower number of leaves compared
to weeding 3 times but not significantly different number from the weeding treatment
1 time.
(Leaf area index) The results of the variance analysis showed that there was an
interaction between the planting system and weeding time to leaf area index at the
age of 35 days. At the age of 35 days after planting, the treatment of row planting
system and without weeding was not significantly different from the row planting
system and weeding 2 times. However, weeding 3 times had a very significant effect
on the row planting system. The legowo row planting system, with or without
weeding 1, 2, and 3 times had significant effect on each other against LEI. The row
and legowo row planting systems had a significant effect on the weeding 3 times.
(Plant dry weight) The results of the variance analysis showed that there was an
interaction between the planting system and weeding time to plant dry weight at the
age of 35 days. The treatment of row planting system, with or without weeding 1, 2,
and 3 times, significantly influenced each other. In the legowo row planting system,
with or without weeding 1, 2, and 3 times, had a significant effect on each other on
the plant dry weight. Legowo row planting system shows a significant effect on the
weeding treatment 3 times.
(Number of pods per plant) The results of the variance analysis showed that there
was an interaction between the planting system and weeding time to the number of
pods per plant. The number of pods from the treatment of row planting system
without weeding was significantly different from that from all weeding times, but it
was significantly lower than weeding 3 times. In the legowo row planting system
without weeding, the number of pods per plant was significantly different from that in
the legowo row planting system and all weeding times. The table also shows the
treatment of legowo row planting system and weeding 3 times resulting in a higher
number of pods per plant compared to the treatment of row planting system and
weeding 3 times.
(Number of seeds per pod) Weeding 3 times can produce the number of seeds per
pod significantly higher than other treatments, but it was not significantly different
from weeding 2 times. Weeding 2 times can increase the number of seeds per pod by
8.45% compared to treatment without weeding. Meanwhile, weeding 3 times can
increase 12.16% compared to the treatment without weeding.
(Number of dry seeds per pod) Weeding 3 times can produce the number of dry
seeds per pod significantly higher than other treatments, but it was not significantly
different from weeding 2 times. Weeding 1 time can increase the number of dry seeds
per pod by 13.04% compared to treatment without weeding. Weeding 2 times can
increase the number of seeds per pod by 32.43% compared to treatment without
weeding. Meanwhile, weeding 3 times can increase 45.50% compared to the
treatment without weeding.
(100 seed weight) The results of the variance analysis showed that there was an
interaction between the planting system and weeding time to the parameter of 100
seed weight. The treatment of row planting system, with or without weeding 1, 2, and
3 times, significantly influenced each other. In the legowo row planting system, with
or without weeding 1, 2, and 3 times, had a significant effect on each other on the 100
seed weight. Legowo row planting system shows a significant effect on the weeding
treatment 3 times.
(Result) Weeding 3 times can produce a mean yield (ton/ha) significantly higher than
other treatments. Weeding 1 time can increase the yield (ton/ha) by 15.38% compared
to the treatment without weeding. Weeding 2 times can increase the yield (ton/ha) by
35.29% compared to the treatment without weeding. Meanwhile, weeding 3 times can
increase the yield (ton/ha) by 44.06% compared to the treatment without weeding.
(Conclusion) The treatment of legowo row planting system without weeding
produces weed dry weight of 65.4 g (17.58% higher than the treatment of row
planting system without weeding).
(Suggestion) Further research regarding various combinations of weeding times and
planting systems in the edamame plant needs to be carried out in suppressing weed
growth to improve the growth and yield of edamame.
