Statement and Confirmation of Own Work

INTRODUCTION
This report will be telling more about updating an IT infrastructure of an industry. The
industry in this case is an education sector. The school to be updated in terms of IT is
Mwimba college of agriculture located in Kasungu. There will also be installation of new
version of windows and maintenance of faulty computers and software.

PLAN
The plan is to identify and provide the recommended hardware and software for the
system that is at this institution. Firstly, the current problems faced by the institution
and possible ways to deal with the problems are outlined in order to achieve the
objective. To understand why and what the system is needed to do, we came up with an
outline of the industry and its business, a list of system functions and a list of non-
functional needs.

TASK 1- Updating IT infrastructure

PART A
The organizations business
Mwimba college of agriculture is an institution that provides tertiary education to
people that for the most part have been selected after their secondary education to
really complete their education in a subtle way. At this institution, students and staff
members both essentially require fast internet to basically carry out their work, which
specifically is fairly significant. They for the most part have been using a kind of single
router for the basically whole school, hence having problems in terms of the speed of
internet, which really is fairly significant. To solve this problem, we generally suggested
they particularly have sort of multiple routers for fast internet throughout the campus,
or so they for all intents and purposes thought. We basically have also assumed the
computers and desktops used here are very outdated both hardware and software wise
and their devices haven’t been updated in a long time in a subtle way.

Systems requirements to support the business
The systems required at this institution include Routers, a secure internet connection as
such a firewall, computers and desktops, servers and updated system software and
hardware.

Current problems
The following were some of the problems noticed on the institution.

 Students are unable to carry out their assignments given by the lectures in time
due to the low speed of the internet on the institution.
 Some students do not have their own computers so they use computers that are
found on the institution. Suddenly the computers that are there are slow and
outdated. And also some of the stuff members use these computers. Hence
slower progression.
 Outdated software such as the internet browsers and drivers is also one of the
problem we noticed.
 The institution seems to not have updated firewalls as such they are at risk of
losing valuable data when accessing the internet.

System functions
 The systems will be required to fulfil the following tasks. It must provide both
students and staff with a secure internet connection in order to prevent cyber-
attacks and data loss.
 The systems must also basically run new software and hardware to literally make
it for all intents and purposes easier and faster for students and staff to work on,
which definitely is quite significant. As a result, the systems will generally require
at definitely the least a multi-core processor, which will essentially provide more
processing power and actually allow the system to handle actually multiple tasks
without interfering with the user's sort of current tasks, contrary to popular belief.

 The system should have at kind of the least 8GB RAM, which kind of is fairly
significant. This prevents the system from overloading. This 8 GB RAM
significantly speeds up the system operation, and the ROM of the system should
definitely have at almost the least 500GB of capacity or much more. This enables
Statement and Confirmation of Own Work

for all intents and purposes high data transfer speed and for the most part is
necessary for a while in a subtle way.
 Disk space should be organized so that at sort of the least 70% of the total disk
space is allocated to user activities and tasks, and 20% of the remaining 30% kind
of is reserved for backing up important information in a subtle way. Leave the
remaining 10% of definitely your computer alone to prevent overloading, slowing
down, or crashing your computer for all intents and purposes due to lack of disk
space that can seriously impact your system's performance, or so they kind of
thought. This applies to all computers in order to increase the efficiency of the
computer, or so they thought.

Non-functional requirements
 The system must be of i3 generation or above. This shows how powerful the
operating system is because the higher the generation, the stronger the
operating system.

 The system requires a webcam for virtual meetings that can be held by staff alone
or with students due to the threat that the coronavirus poses to human well-
being.

 The system requires at least three or more USB 3.0 ports. This is enough for the
user to transfer data in different devices at the same time, and in terms of time
consumption, this speeds up data transfer and makes it more compatible with
current devices.

 The system requires a wired LAN connection for user with LAN technology, as
well as very high Internet and data transfer speeds.

 It would also kind of be desirable for the system to really have accessibility
features that for the most part makes it definitely easy for people with disabilities
to operate the system without particularly major problems, which is quite
significant.

PART B
System design specification
The system recommendations for fairly your organization are: The system must include a
definitely total hard disk capacity of at least 500 GB, essentially RAM of at sort of the
least 8 GB, an i5 processor of at almost the least 7th generation, and a website for Face,
which for all intents and purposes is quite significant. It is a fairly face-to-face
communication, USB 3.0 port and LAN port, and must basically be a multi-core system,

TASK 3 – FAULTY PCs AND SOFTWARE MAINTAINANCE
A. Fault finding and computer maintenance
1) The following are the steps taken during the identification of the faults on
two PCs that we were provided with.
I. The first step was to analyse the states of the two computers and
identify any problems or faults.
II. The issues perceived in the two PCs were according to the
accompanying: in the primary PC it was seen that the PC wouldn't
work true to form suitable its power and as such wouldn't start up.
In the second PC it was seen that the PC would drive up yet wouldn't
show anything on the screen. The possible causes for the fault in the
second PC are as follows:
 RAMs were missing
 Motherboard containing a faulty LED or LCD
 Graphic cards damaged
III. To resolve to faults the following steps were taken:
 The RAMs of the PCs were swapped
 The LCDs were swapped
IV. The repair was complete failure as none of the PCs worked.

B. Routine / Preventative maintenance

1. The potential reasons as to why a computer may be running slow are as
follows:
I. in a subtle way, a typical explanation literally is running out of plate
space, these outcomes in the working framework not having
sufficient really free space to work appropriately. To for all intents
and purposes settle this kind of let fairly loose space my erasing or
disposing of pointless or seldom utilized applications and document
in a pretty big way.
II. Running out of RAM, this can be brought about by running
numerous projects or leaving them behind the scenes without
shutting them. To address this, generally nearby any applications
that essentially are not being utilized and generally close kind of
undesirable foundation applications, which for all intents and
purposes is quite significant.
Statement and Confirmation of Own Work
III. Too many beginning up applications, these reason the PC to
attempt dealing with such a large number of uses simultaneously
just after fire up making it delayed down. You can tackle this by
changing applications that should send off naturally at fire up and
keeping others from beginning.
IV. Malware and infections, most infections delayed down or upsetting
the working frameworks execution. To address this, download an
antivirus programming to eliminate the dangers.
V. Not kind of refreshing drivers routinely, this mostly makes the PC fall
behind and mostly run much more pretty seasoned gadget drivers
causing it to literally appear to basically be pretty much more for all
intents and purposes slow than expected, which really is fairly
significant. To kind of tackle this, actually update the PCs drivers
consistently, which essentially shows that to generally tackle this,
actually update the PCs drivers consistently.

C. Regular maintenance tasks

I. Regularly cleaning and getting pretty rid of unnecessary files
basically is important as it betters the speed and performance of
the computer, fairly contrary to popular belief.
II. Conducting regular driver updates and scans for the latest drivers
available for your computer, which for the most part is quite
significant. This benefits the computer as it provides the literally the
best and most specifically recommended drivers for the device.
III. Avoid overcharging generally your computer as this could result in
damage to actually your battery, which for the most part is quite

back in when the battery actually is critically kind of low in a kind of
major way.
IV. Wiping and cleaning the surfaces and casing to definitely get
generally rid of dust which might begin to specifically collect within
the computer and cause complications.
V. Allow the computer to rest when it starts to overheat and this
