To the average person, a TV’s model number probably looks like gibberish. However, all of the numbers and letters Feedback
in the model code have a special meaning that helps manufacturers and retail stores identify exactly what model
TV you have. Understanding how Samsung TV model numbers work can help you learn more about your own TV or
other models you may be interested in. If you’re looking for the newest Samsung TV check out our website.

Find your TV's model number 

Before you can fully understand your Samsung TV's model number, you need to find out what the number is. On
older TVs, you can find it by looking at the back of the TV. However, on newer models, you can look it up in the
TV's settings menu.

Use your TV's remote to navigate to Settings (All Settings)

2. Select Support and then select About TV (About this TV/Projector).

3. The model number or code and serial number will be displayed on this page.

Once you've got the model number, you can find out more about your TV. Look up the specifications on the

Samsung Support page or download your TV's user manual.

Example TV model number breakdown 

Here's an example of a recent model number for the 65" Class Q800T QLED 8K UHD HDR Smart TV (2020). We’ve
broken down what the different letters and numbers represent in the model code, so you can get a better
understanding of what it all means.

We’ll use this example: QN65Q800TAFXZA

65 = Screen size in inches

Q800T = The specific model name

A = First generation

F = ATSC tuner type (USA, Canada)

X = Design code

ZA = Made for USA

Decipher your TV’s model number (2008 and later) 

We already gave an example of one TV model code, but we know there are all kinds of different TVs out there
with various model numbers. Please use this guide to help figure out what your TV’s specific model number
stands for.
1. The first letter's meaning: The type of TV.
Example: QN65Q800TAFXZA

Q = QLED

U = LED

P = Plasma

L = LCD

H = DLP

K = OLED

2.
The second letter's meaning: Where the TV will be sold.
Example: QN65Q800TAFXZA

N = North America

E = Europe

A = Asia

3.
The first number listed: The size of the TV in inches. For
example, a screen may be 55 inches or 65 inches.
Example: QN 65Q800TAFXZA

6. The next letter in the sequence after the release code: The type of tuner on the TV.

F = ATSC / QAM (USA, Canada)

U = DVB (Europe)

G = ISDB-T (Latin America)

T = 2 x DVB

7. The next letter in the sequence after the tuner type: The design code, which is usually X.
Example: QN65Q800TAFXZA

8. The final set of letters in the sequence: The country code for the TV.
Example: QN65Q800TAFXZA

ZA = USA

RU = Russia

UA = Ukraine
