The UK student film festival was created to showcase aspiring

n
filmmakers and help them become recognised in the film and
TV industry. It is available for all different genres and available
for students all across the world to participate in. It is
organised by the WWCSFF (Worldwide Cineastes film festivals) who host a range
of festivals across the UK and have been going for five years.

The competition will cost $10

which is a reasonable price
considering the benefits you
could possibly get from it. The
Final deadline isn’t until the
middle of August however I will
have my production ready to
submit for the start of June.

I will submit for the longer

student short (15-30 mins)
which means I will have to push
myself to do more work in order
to reach this timescale seeing as
so far, my productions have

ended up being a lot shorter.

Final Idea
My production is going to be a short film again as despite me wanting to experiment with
different things, it is too risky to be doing that on my final project for the year. By doing
something I am familiar with, it means I have a better chance at being successful and I can
make sure I master the conventions of it. I hope to be able to make the audience never
know what is going to happen next whilst keeping the tension and suspense throughout. A
typical murder mystery would include lots of different suspects with it ending up being the
person they least expect and I hope I can do the same as well. I will also aim to make sure I
use a variety of different camera angles and movements with each clip flowing to make it
easier for the viewer to understand as I feel last project I didn't do this so well. I will need to
make sure I hire out the equipment I need well in advance as I know it will get booked up
very quickly and if I don't get what I need, it could make things very challenging for me. I
also need to make sure I have all the props that I need ready as if not this could cause
delays to production or make it not up to the highest possible standard.

Starts of by showing somebody lying dead on the floor surrounded by police tape and
evidence markers whilst we hear sirens close by in the background. It slowly cuts out and
changes scene to a dark room where we see a man in a hoodie from behind washing
something in the sink. The camera comes up over his head and we can see it is a bloody
knife. We then see him chuck some clothes in the washing machine which also have blood
stains on them. The scene then changes to the day before where we are introduced to the
main characters who are three brothers. They have just finished their lunch and get up to
leave before their mum calls back the middle brother to put his plate away despite the fact
neither of the others have done so either which frustrates him. She then also adds that he
owes her money from the other day which makes him even more angry. The youngest and
middle brothers then end up getting verbal towards each other and starts to get physical
before the mum sends him to his room.
It then cuts back to modern times and they are in tears as they have just found out that
their other brother has been murdered in a horrific attack close by to their house. They are
angered that someone would do this to him and therefore wanted to go on a mission to find
out the truth of who did this crime.
They first head to his ex's house as it is believed she wasn't too happy with the breakup
however she has a clear alibi from the day he was killed so therefore it couldn't be her. Their
next thought is they believe that his new girlfriends ex was after him because he wanted her
back. They didn't know where he lived however, they know he had been abusive in the past.
They were trying to come up with a plan to confront him however got interrupted by their
mum who is giving the middle child his washing. He immediately sees what she is holding

and snatches it out of her hands before running upstairs. Everyone is left confused. It is at
this moment where we see the oldest brother start to piece things together and realise that
it is the middle brother who is the murderer. The screen then cuts to black with a phone line
ringing before it comes back to show the oldest brother on the phone to the police to
report him.

Target Audience
I feel as if my production should be targeted towards 15–20-year-olds as at they
like the thrill of being on the edge of their seat not knowing what’s coming next
in a fast paced, easy to understand film. Most of them would also like feeling as
if they are the detective trying to work out who did the crime and why they did
it.

This is due to the fact in this modern generation, teenagers have become
obsessed with true crime documentaries and are fascinated as to why it takes
place. The reason they prefer these over fictional horror films is that they know
it is true and has happened which makes it interesting. I feel like they will feel
the same with mine even though it isn't true however it very easily could be
rather than if there was some mythical monster killer on the loose. which
wouldn't appeal to them.

Issues/ rules and

regulations

Those who only focus on themselves may get a reputation from others as
difficult to deal with causing less and less people want to come and help you
again. Within this course, you need to be understanding and have good
teamwork skills in order to help others whilst they return the favour later on.

The work needs to be completely ours and whenever we do research from

websites, it needs to be Harvard referenced to avoid copyright and plagiarism.
We keep all of this in a bibliography to keep track of it as well as witing it down
directly where the information is.

I need to also make sure my topic isn’t deemed as too sensitive for some
viewers as well as avoiding exploitation for the actors. If I am covering a topic, it
needs to be accurate and not bias .
