Product description
This approval covers control cabinets used in Wärtsilä exhaust gas cleaning (scrubber) control &
monitoring system. Application SW is not covered by this type approval certificate (TAC). See table 1 for
control cabinets covered by this TAC. Table 2 relates the main components in these cabinets to DNV GL
TAC’s.

Application/Limitations
1. This TAC covers hardware, system design principle and network setup.
2. This TAC is only valid for cabinets as listed in Table 1 when manufactured at the “Places of
Manufacture”.
3. HW-test of each individual cabinet shall be witnessed by DNV GL. The test reports for each
individual cabinet shall be signed and stamped by the attending DNV GL surveyor.
4. Installation of the cabinets covered by this TAC on-board may commence without informing DNV
GL on the condition of successful HW-test (ref. item 3 above).
6. Test of application software shall be performed at the premises of Moss Automation as described
under “Places of Manufacturer” or at the premise of Wärtsilä Moss and may commence only after
the system documents specified under “Approval Conditions” are approved.
7. Test of the application software shall be performed on an identical MCP connected to identical
NSP1, NSP2, TSP and emergency stop boxes as delivered on-board, connected to a test
simulator tool.
9. After successful testing, a DNV GL product certificate covering the entire EGC C&M system shall
be issued.
10. Potential changes in HW and SW from FAT to SAT shall be followed up as described in the
document SW & FW handling from FAT to SAT, doc. ID: DMTA00028576.
11. The SW and the SW configuration used during FAT shall be set accordingly in the installed
system. The installed SW shall be according to the project specific software revision document.
12. HW safety stop configuration/jumper shall be set according to project specific circuit diagrams.
13. The network setup between the control cabinets mentioned in Table 1 has been tested and
approved according to DNV GL Pt.4 Ch.9 Sec.4 [3.3] / Network test and verification. As long as
the setup is as described in sec.6.4 in the document WÄRTSILÄ EGC CONTROL SYSTEM –
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION rev.2, network analyses and testing, including network storm, will not
be required in specific projects.

The following documentation of the actual application shall be submitted for approval in each case:

- Z252 Test procedure at Manufacturer.
- Confirmation that Application/Limitation point 13 is fulfilled
- List of panels with serial numbers used in a specific project, with test reports linked to the serial
numbers. It is accepted that the serial numbers are submitted to DNV GL at the certification test,
but then this shall be informed in the documentation submitted for approval.
Product certificate
Each delivery of the application system is to be certified according to Pt.4 Ch.9 Sec.1. The certification
test is to be performed at the manufacturer of the application system according to an approved test
program. After the certification the following clause for application software control will be put into force:

Periodical assessment
The scope of the periodical assessment is to verify that the conditions stipulated for the type are
complied with, and that no alterations are made to the product design or choice of systems, software
versions, components and/or materials. The main elements of the assessment are:
• Ensure that type approved documentation is available
• Inspection of factory samples, selected at random from the production line (where practicable)
• Review of production and inspection routines, including test records from product sample tests
and control routines
• Ensuring that systems, software versions, components and/or materials used comply with type
approved documents and/or referenced system, software, component and material specifications
• Review of possible changes in design of systems, software versions, components, materials
and/or performance, and make sure that such changes do not affect the type approval given
• Ensuring traceability between manufacturer’s product type marking and the type approval
certificate
Periodical assessment is to be performed at renewal of this certificate.
