Handwritten Solution in Pdf format should be uploaded
1. Let the current density be J  2  cos2 a    sin 2a A / m 2 within the
regions 2.1<ρ<2.5, 0<ɸ<0.1 rad, 6<z<6.1. Find the total current I crossing
the surface: (a) ρ=2.2, 0<ɸ<0.1, 6<z<6.1 in the aρ direction; (b) ɸ=0.05,
2.1<ρ<2.5, 6<z<6., in aɸ direction. (c) Evaluate   J at P(ρ=2.4, ɸ=0.08,
z=6.05).

2. Cylindrical conducting surfaces are located at ρ=0.8 cm and 3.6 cm. The
region 0.8cm<ρ<a contains a dielectric for which εR=4, while εR=2 for
a<ρ<3.6 cm. (a) Find a so that the voltage across each dielectrics layer is
the same. (b) Find the total capacitance per meter.

3. Consider a parallel plate capacitor having d = 5mm, S = 80 cm2 and r =

10, (a) Find capacitance (b) If a dc voltage source of 50 V is now placed
across the capacitor, calculate E, D, Q and the total stored energy (c) The
source is now disconnected and the dielectrics carefully removed from
between the plates. Find Q, D, E and the total energy stored. (d) Find V0.

4. An electric field in a medium whose relative permittivity is 7 enters into

another medium of relative permittivity of 2. If E makes an angle of 60°
with the boundary normal, what angle does the field makes with the
normal in the second dielectric?

5. A bar copper of 30mm×80mm in cross section and 2m in length has

50mV applied between its ends. Find resistance, conductance and electric
field intensity.

6. Two parallel conducting plates are each 10 cm by 10 cm and separated by

2 mm distance. The region between the plates is filled with a perfect
dielectric for which r = (1+500x)2, where x is the distance from one
plate. Assume a uniform surface charge density of 10 nC/m2 on the
positive plate, determine (a) Qtotal (b) Dx (c) Ex (d) V0 and (e) C.
7. A coaxial capacitor has dimensions a = 3mm, b = 12 mm and a length of
1 m. The region between the conducting cylinders contains three different
dielectrics r1 = 5 for 3 <  < 6 mm; r2 = 3 for 6 <  < 9 mm & r3 = 1 for
9 <  < 12 mm. Calculate C.
