An important development in the growth of green building movement in India is the launch of the IGBC
Green Building Rating Systems. To achieve the IGBC rating, the project must satisfy all the mandatory
requirements and the minimum number of credit points. All the IGBC rating systems are voluntary,
consensus based, market-driven building programmes. The rating systems are based on the five elements
of the nature (Panchabhutas) and are a perfect blend of ancient architectural practices and modern
technological innovations.
