Introduction:-
In contemporary urban environments, the demand for sustainable energy solutions continues to
escalate in tandem with the pressing need to mitigate climate change and reduce reliance on
finite fossil fuel resources. Among the diverse array of renewable energy technologies, wind
power stands out as a promising avenue for decentralized energy generation, particularly in
densely populated urban areas where space is limited. In this context, the concept of roadside
vertical wind turbine generators emerges as a pragmatic solution to harness the kinetic energy
present in urban wind flows for powering essential infrastructure, such as street lights.
The deployment of vertical wind turbines alongside roadways presents a unique opportunity to
leverage existing infrastructure for renewable energy generation while simultaneously addressing
the imperative of enhancing urban sustainability. Unlike traditional horizontal-axis wind
turbines, vertical-axis designs offer distinct advantages in urban settings, including compact
footprints, omni-directional wind capture, and reduced visual and noise impacts. By integrating
these turbines into roadside environments, cities can tap into a decentralized and resilient energy
source while simultaneously enhancing the safety and visibility of road networks through
powered street lighting.
This project endeavors to explore the feasibility and efficacy of utilizing roadside vertical wind
turbine generators to power street lights, thereby contributing to the paradigm shift towards
sustainable urban energy solutions. Through a comprehensive investigation encompassing
design, implementation, and performance evaluation, this endeavor aims to demonstrate the
viability of this innovative approach in meeting the energy needs of urban infrastructure while
reducing environmental impact and promoting energy independence.
