I.

Your Developmental goals

What do you really enjoy doing at work?

Although I don’t currently have a job one of the things I really have enjoyed
in the past is the opportunity for team work and working with people on a
daily basis. I am looking to go into sales and getting to talk to people and
figuring out how I can solve their problems is something that I really enjoy.
How can you best contribute, given your talents and interests?
I contribute the best through communication but also by thinking outside
the box and looking at the big picture. I also think I am very good of
building off of others ideas and helping them craft more complete versions
of them.
Where would you like to be in two years? In five years?
I would like to be working in Pharmaceutical or medical device sales in the
New England area. Within 5 years would hope to make the transition from
on the road sales to a more leadership centric approach where I am in the
latter stages of the sales process.
Are there skill and knowledge gaps that you want to fill?
I think there are dozens of skills and knowledge gaps to for me to fill most
of which I don’t know yet as I haven’t officially started my full time work
career. However one thing I think that I would benefit a lot from is
understanding how I am coming across to others as I think that is
something that I can lose sometimes.
Do you have a healthy balance between your work and outside commitments?
Who knows you well enough to give useful feedback?
I think I have very good work life balance between work and the outside.
The one thing I have been known to struggle with and my girlfriend has
told me repeatedly is that sometimes I will procrastinate to much and the
work starts to pile up leading me to not really be present in my personal life
at times.

Are you comfortable reaching out for help, sharing your experiences and
soliciting feedback? Or even just starting conversations with strangers?
I am very comfortable doing all of the above personally I think that is one
of my best quality’s as I love to talk and learn from others.

Where do you see yourself on the mental complexity continuum described by

Kegan and Lahey? What does further progress on this continuum look like for
you?

What developmental goal(s) do these questions suggest? Which do you consider

your priority right now?
II. Needs for Support

What will it take to achieve your goal(s)? Think about what you need to learn,
explore, practice, etc.

Whether or not you currently consider them part of your developmental network,
who could help you in your pursuit of your goals?

Consider the map you created – how does it synchronize with this list? Are there
areas in which you need to find help? Are you continuing to invest in
relationships that aren’t providing the support you really need right now?

III. Next Steps

What do you need to do to build your support network? Be as specific as you can.

For those you want in your network, in what ways can you be of help to them?
