COURSE OUTLINE AND PROGRAM OF INSTRUCTION

FOR CRIMINOLOGY INTERNS ASSIGNED AT THE


BUREAU OF FIRE PROTECTION

Effective First and Second Semester for A.Y 2023-2024

01. Hereunder are the Course Outline and Program of Instruction (POI) intended for the
Bachelor of Science in Criminology Students of the Romblon State University, San
Agustin Campus, Institute of Criminal Justice Education to undergo On-the-Job
Training/Community Immersion at the Bureau of Fire Protection covering the period
1st and 2nd Semester A.Y 2023-2024.

COURSE CODE: PRACTICUM 1 AND PRACTICUM 2


Course Description: On-the-Job training 1 and On-the-Job training 2
Credit Units: 3 units
Time Allotment: 160 hrs for 1st Semester and 320 hrs for 2nd
Semester

I. COURSE RATIONALE / LEGAL MANDATE:

The bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) referred to as the Fire Bureau, was
created under Rule VIII, Section 49 of the Republic Act No. 6975 otherwise known
as the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Act of 1990.

The BFP was created primarily on the fundamental mission to protect lives
and properties through the prevention and suppression of destructive fire,
Investigation of their causes and provision of Emergency Medical a Rescue Service
with the active support of the public and envisioned with modern, efficient and
responsive fire protection agency working towards a public safety society.

However, this course outline and POI was designed to educate and instil
security and safety awareness, introduce the basic firefighting techniques and
operations, to acquire knowledge and skills in first aid and life-saving operations,
familiarize the duties and functions of uniformed personnel of Bureau of Fire
Protection and promote fires safety consciousness as way of life.

II. OJT WORKPLAN

The agency shall conduct an orientation on the actual law enforcement


scenario in their respective units for OJT to internalize their duties and
responsibilities.

Lectures will be assigned by the agency to its implementing units.
