Lines Homework Questions From Previous QP

This document contains 10 questions about projecting lines in engineering drawings. The questions provide information like the measurements of different views of lines and locations of endpoints, and ask to draw the projections and calculate properties like true lengths, inclinations and traces of the lines.

Previous Years University Question Paper

Unit III
A) Projections of Lines
1. Line AB measures 75 mm and is in first quadrant. Front view and Top view of line
inclined at 450 to XY. End A is 20 mm in-front of VP. and 30 mm above HP. Draw
the projection of line, determine its true inclination with HP and VP and locate its
traces.

2. The front view of a 75 mm long line measures 55 mm. The line is parallel to the
H.P. and one of its ends is in the V.P. and 25 mm above the H.P. Draw the
projections of the line and determine its inclination with the V.P.

3. The front view of a line AB makes an angle of 300 with xy. The HT of the line is 45
mm in front of the VP, while its VT is 30 mm below the HP. The end A is 10 mm
above the HP and the end B is 100 mm in front of the VP. Draw the projections of
the line and determine (i) its true length, and (ii) its inclinations with the HP and the
VP.

4. FV of a line measures 70 mm and makes an angle of 30° with XY. The end A is in
the HP and the VT of the line is 10 mm below XY. The line is inclined at 45° to the
VP. Draw the projections of the line and find its TL and true inclinations with the
HP. Also locate the HT.

5. Line AB is 75 mm long. Its FV and TV measures 50 and 60 mm long respectively.

End A is 10 mm above HP and 15 mm Infront of VP. Draw the projections of line
AB if end B is in the first quadrant. Find the angle with HP and VP.

6. End A of a line AB is 25 mm below HP and 35 mm behind VP. Line is 30° inclined

to HP. There is point Pon AB contained by both HP and VP. Draw the projections
and find inclination with VP and traces.

7. The end A of line AB is 10 mm above the HP and 30 mm infront of VP. The end B
is 50 mm below HP and 15 mm behind VP. The length of line is 80 mm. Draw the
projections and locate the traces. What are inclinations of the line with reference
planes.

8. A line AB, inclined at 40° to the VP, has its ends 50 mm and 20 mm above HP.
The length of its FV is 65 mm and its VT is 10 mm above HP. Determine the true
length of AB, its inclination with HP and its HT.

9. The top view of 75 mm long line AB measures 65 mm, while the lengths of front
view is 50 mm. It’s one end A is in HP and 12 mm in front of VP. Draw the
Projections of AB and determine its inclination with HP and VP.

10. Draw the projections of line AB if point A is 20 mm above HP and 30 mm in front

of VP and Point B is 75 mm above HP and 60 mm in front of VP. The distance
between projectors of A & B is 60 mm. Find HT, VT, True length of line and angle
made with HP.
