This Procedure is documented for the exclusive use of the Valvometal Middle East Valves Factory LLC. It should not
be reproduced in completely or in part without prior written approval from the Chief Executive Officer of Valvometal
Middle East Valves Factory LLC.

GENERAL: Our Gate valves were comply with the BS - EN 1074 part 1 & part 2, our valves can
be operated by hand wheel, extension spindle, stem cap, hand wheel.

Our valves are design with anti-clock wise unless customer specifies

Condition of (1 & 2) can be achieved by large orifice design and condition (3) can be archived by
small orifice design for small quantities of air as they accumulate during the water flow.

PRECAUTIONS FOR STORAGE AND HANDLING:

• Make sure valve coating were undamaged during storage, handling, assembly.
• Valve seals, elastomer can be affected by adverse conditions.
• Storage should be under shaded area only,
• Give protection to all the valves form sand, mud, direct sun.

VALVE INSTALLATION
Inspection before installation
• Remove all packing protection material from the valve. Clean the valve using soft brush or
clean cloth to remove any dirt in the seating area.
• Clean off any dust inside the valve which was accumulated during storage or transport.
Check if there is any foreign material that may obstruct a smooth operation.
• Visually inspect the valve for any visible damages.
• Check the pipe flange size and standard to make sure that the drillings are correct. The pipe
flange face should be same as that of the valve flange face.
• Clean the pipe flanges to remove any rust. Alignment Check and parallelism of the pipe
connection flanges to be verified since these may result in stress in the flanges and finally
end up in valve failure

Valve Installation:
• VME Gate valves are bi directional and can be assembled in any flow direction. The valves
are recommended to be installed in horizontal pipework with the stem in the vertical position,
or in vertical pipework with the stem horizontal.
• The valves should not be installed in horizontal pipework with the stem horizontal since shut
off performance may be affected.
• When bolting the valve to the pipe, avoid the transmission of the stresses from the pipe to
the valve body. Valves are to be provisionally supported to prevent abnormal stress on one

or both sides of the valve. It is also advisable to support the pipe. Proper alignment is
important.
• Correct flange gaskets and gasket material (Rubber) should be used during installation of
the valve. As a thumb rule the distance between the pipe flanges should exceed the face to
face dimension of the valve by approximately 20mm. This will help to insert the gasket
without much effort.
• Tighten the bolts gradually in a star‐shaped pattern. Recommended bolt tightening torque
should be as per the applicable standards and as per bolt or gasket supplier’s
recommendation.
• When the valves are used with extension spindles above ground level, no direct load should
apply on the spindle top. Proper arrangement should be made to support the weight of the
extension arrangements.
• If required the threads of the bolt may be greased with a graphite based grease or spray.
Waterproof grease is recommended to prevent corrosion and facilitate subsequent
dismantling operations. Bolting materials to be selected based on the corrosion possibility of
the location.

Valve operation:
Once the installation is completed operate the valve completely to check the smoothness of
operation. Standard construction of Series 31 Gate valve is clock wise to close. Valves are opened
anti‐clockwise unless the customer especially requests the contrary.
The number of turns required to open and close valves is as follows:

The valve should be able to operate without excessive force.Recommended valve stem tightening
torque is indicated in Table‐2. Valves are suitable to mount Gear boxes or actuators.

Online pressure testing:

• Valves were tested as per the standard EN1074. Valves are designed to with stand a
maximum test pressure of 1.5 times of the rating at open condition. Testing at higher
pressure is not recommended.

Precautions for operation:

• Do not use air valves for sewage applications since solid particles may cause the disturbance
to float moment
• Use gate valve always in the line
• Temperature range = -10°c to 60°c
• Valve are designed with maximum pressure rating with PN standards

MAINTENANCE:

The valves are maintenance‐free type. The valves are recommended to operate once in six months
for a smooth Operation. A maintenance programme may be followed which include checks on the
development of unforeseen conditions, which could lead to failure

Maintenance preparation:
• In case any maintenance is to carried out the following prior maintenance checks to
be followed as a minimum.
• The valve should be opened at zero line pressure and ambient temperature prior to a
ny maintenance.
• Correct tools and equipment to be used.
• Customer safety engineer must compile a full risk assessment and methodology statement.
Being a maintenance free design, there are no recommended spare parts available for valves
up to DN400 Sizes.

Product’s End of Life Management:

Our product is made out of a mix of recyclable and non-recyclable materials. The user shall dispose
of the product after its use through agencies approved by the local authorities. It is recommended
that the useful components are recycled with minimal environmental impacts.
The product shall be decontaminated to remove all traces of any hazardous substances that might
have accumulated during its service. Once decontaminated, the product shall be stripped of its
components. All recyclable components (ductile iron, steel, bronze etc.) shall be either reused or
recycled through appropriate methods by approved agencies. Components that cannot be reused or
recycled (Seals/sealing elements (PTFE, PEEK, EPDM) shall be disposed of as per the local
regulatory requirements.
