ABBREVIATED PROFESSIONAL HISTORY

I started my legal career with a small Pretoria based firm in 1998 specializing in
litigation and conveyancing. During my articles I was approached by a medium sized
firm where, amongst others, I was involved with collections (both High and
Magistrate’s Court) of the then four major South African banks.

After my admittance as an attorney I stayed on with the above firm for a short while
as a professional assistant, before accepting a position in a Randburg based firm,
where I was involved with debt litigation for, inter alia, major motor collection vehicle
manufacturer and several financial institutions.

I was approached by a legal consultancy in 2001 and was appointed as an

outsourced legal advisor for, inter alia, major iron ore mining company, steel
manufacturer and tertiary institution. During my employment with the consultancy I
specialized in drafting of contracts as well as litigation based on contractual disputes.

The consultancy had a need for an attorney in practice for their specialized needs
and I started practicing as an attorney for my own account and I am still practicing as
such. I started my own firm in 2002 and shortly thereafter amalgamated with another
small firm. This small firm was distinguished from other firms due to the fact that it
handled the litigation and conveyancing of large corporations as well as individuals
and smaller entities.

In 2004 I once again started practicing for my own account. Due to my background, I
have had the opportunity of delivering services to a wide range of clients ranging
from corporate clients to individuals. I have gained experience across several fields
of law including but not limited to:

• High Court Litigation inclusive of, inter alia, Anton Piller type applications and
urgent applications;
• Applications to the Constitutional Court;
• Appeals to the Supreme Court of Appeal;
5

• Magistrate’s Court litigation (inclusive of both District and Regional Courts);

• Criminal law (High Court, District Court and Regional Court);
• Labour law;
• Commercial law;
• Family law;
• Drafting of contracts;
• Conveyancing;
• Drafting of wills and testaments;
• Drafting of motivationals and appeals relating to the Fire-Arms Control Act;
• Criminal Appeals;
• Drafting of pleadings and notices.

I have been a member of the Executive Committee of the Pretoria Attorneys

Association (PAA) from 2008.

This association is the largest voluntary non-profit organisation in South Africa. Our
services include, inter alia, that we offer offices for attorneys away from their offices,
at both the Magistrate’s Court and the High Court.

The PAA liaises regularly with various stakeholders such as the Deputy Judge
President of the Gauteng Division, court managers of the various courts, the
Registrars of the Deeds office, CIPC, Master of the High Court and others.

From 2008 to 2014 I managed the PAA’s offices at the North Gauteng High Court
and Pretoria Magistrate’s Court. I was also the Chairperson of the marketing
subcommittee.

In 2015/2016 I was appointed as vice-chairperson of the executive committee of the

PAA. I also held the marketing sub-committee.

I was appointed as the chairperson of the executive committee of the PAA for
2016/2017 until committing of this document.
6

I was a Counsellor of the Gauteng Law Society from 2014 until the dissolvent of the
counsel in 2018. I represented the PAA at the Gauteng Law Society and was also
the convener of both the Bursary Scheme and subsidies sub-committees.

I am a founding member of the Gauteng Attorneys Association and was appointed as

one of its first Co-Chairpersons.
