Content Standard:

humans in shaping ancient Asian civilizations.

Performance Standard:

● The learners are able to deeply connect the roles of the environment and humans in shaping
ancient Asian civilizations.

Learning Competency:

● Define the historical methods (DLSZSS7-TIW3-1)

Objectives:

● Define the meaning of history

● Explain the historical method

● Determine the importance of studying history.

Learning Materials:

● TV screen, Laptop, Concept Map, Firstlight App E-book

Lesson Proper

Introduction
● Using a concept map, ask the students what they know about the word history.

● Based on the words/phrases that the students answer on the board, ask one
student to form a sentence to define history.

Instruction Define the historical methods (DLSZSS7-TIW3-1)

● Using PPT presentation:


o Have the students read in chorus the definition of History flash in the TV
screen.
o Explain the meaning and definition of History.

Explain briefly the historical method and their three categories.

● Using PPT presentation


o Show the definition of the historical method
o Let one student read the meaning of Historical Method flash on the TV
screen
o Explain to the class what the historical method is and identify these three
categories.
1.) Searching for sources
2.) Making inferences
o Ask the students what are the different steps to read like a historian.
o Elaborate on the ways to read like historian from the Stanford History
Educational Group.
3.) Synthesizing

Determine the Importance of studying History


o Elaborate and explain the importance of studying history.
o Ask the students the big question: "Why is it important to study history,
and how can it benefit your future?

oLet the students choose their own partner in this activity.
oStudents will discuss with their partner the most memorable event in their
lives.
oUpon choosing the event, share with their partner their answer to the
following question given and place it in their quiz notebook.

o Students will unlock the following terms: Each student will formulate their
own definition based on their own understanding in the discussion.

Quiz
o Students will answer the Chapter Test in the form independently using the
first light app
o Access the link thru the google form Check-In Assessment: Study of
History.
o If the link is not available, students will use their quiz notebook for
their answer sheet, and questions will flash on the TV screen or
projector.

Essay Writing
o Students will choose one of the two questions on the board
1.) Why is history essential for good citizenship?
2.) What is the role of history in nation building?
o Write an essay that answers the following questions based on their own
understanding and place it in their quiz notebook.
