II. LESSON PROPER

A. Presentation
B. Objectives

Teacher: Student #3 kindly read the

objectives of our lesson for today. Student#3: At the end of the lesson the
students will be able to:
*Define what is a polygon.
*Classify a polygon.
*Draw the different polygons.
Teacher: Thank you student#3.
So the objective for today’s lesson is that
at the end of the lesson you should be
able to define what is a polygon. You can
appreciate the rule of polygons in our
lives and you can draw different polygon.

C. Discussion

Teacher: Good day again everyone.

Today we will be discussing all about
polygons.
Before we start our discussion I would
like to group you into 4 groups. Please
count off.
Students: (Counting from 1-4)
Teacher: Okay Thank you, group 1 may
you sit here, group two here, group 3
here, group 4 there.

Teacher: So let’s begin what is polygon?

Student #1 Kindly read.

Student #1: In mathematics, a polygon

is a closed two dimensional figure
made up of line segments but not
curves. The term polygon originates
from the Greek
word “poly -” meaning “many” and “-
gon,” meaning
“angles.” Polygons are named
according to the
number of sides and angles they have.

Teacher: Thank you student #1. I have

here some example of polygons.

Teacher: Upon seeing the polygons have

you already seen it in our real life setting?

Students: Yes ma’am…

Teacher: Where you usually find
polygons?

Student#2: At the mall ma’am. Their

Teacher: Very good! Thank you student tiles are squares.
#2.
Now let us know the two types of
polygons, which are the Irregular polygon
and the regular polygons. Student#7
kindly read the meaning of irregular
polygon.

Student#7: A regular polygon is a two-

dimensional shape having all sides of
equal length and all interior angles of
equal measure. Thus sides and angles
are the two parts of a regular polygon
that are always congruent. They are
thus both equilateral and equiangular. A
regular polygon can be both convex and
concave.

Teacher: Thank you student #7.

Student #8 Kindly read the meaning of
irregular polygon.
Student#8: An irregular polygon, also
known as non-regular polygon is a
shape that does not have all sides of
equal length and all angles of equal
measure. Thus any polygon that is not
regular is an irregular polygon.

Teacher: Thank you student#8.

For better understanding
I have some illustration here.

For further learning we have the

application of polygons in daily life.
There are various applications of
polygons in our day-to-day life. Real life
applications of polygons includes:
*Architectural Design
*Floor Planning
*Facade Design
*Urban Planning and Land Use
*Zoning Regulations
*Land Parcel Mapping
*Geographic Analysis
*Natural Resource Management
*Automation of Vehicles
*Path Planning, etc.

D. Application

Teacher: Teacher: Since you are being

grouped I would like you to discuss within
your group what are the roles of polygon
in our life. I will give you 5 mins. to
discuss.

After 5 mins

Teacher: I guess you’re ready please

share what you have discussed. Group 1: Ma’am most of the polygons
we see are very important from the tiles
we walk in itself. We always encounter
these things every day.

Teacher: Thank you group 1, group 2 Group 2: Ma’am the role of polygons in
proceed. the life of human being is that it makes
things beautiful.
For example engineers are using
polygons to make their buildings more
attractive from the building itself most of
their exterior are polygons.

Teacher: Thank you group 2, next group Group 3: Ma’am the role of polygons is
3. very important because it helps us to
make patterns and use it on designing
things like walls and things like table,
appliances and etc.

Group 4: Ma’am the role of polygon

Teacher: Thank you group 3, next group helps human beings to make things
4… more beautiful especially in the field of
arts. Shapes are very important in arts
because it helps the artist to construct
some ideas that are very elegant.

Okay your thoughts and ideas were

correct. Give me on reason on how you Students: We collaborate and
come up with those ideas. cooperate ma’am, we share ideas
within the group, we appreciate the
ideas of our other member. T
That’s the reason why we come up with
some ideas.

Teacher: Very good! That’s why in every

challenges and problems you need to
seek for the help of other people in order
to solve it. After you get help you need to
appreciate the things that happens to Students: Yes ma’am.
you. You need to appreciate the help of
other people. Okay?

‘IV. EVALUATION
